Peter Crouch has claimed that Jose Mourinho is showing Dele Alli ‘who’s boss’ following the Tottenham star’s angry reaction to being substituted in the Champions League.
Alli was hauled off after 64 minutes during a disappointing 1-0 home defeat to RB Leipzig on Wednesday, with the England international throwing his water bottle in anger and slamming his boots on the floor.
The 23-year-old has now been left on the bench by Mourinho for his sides’ crucial clash against Chelsea as both teams seek Champions League qualification.

This comes despite Tottenham’s lack of available attacking players with key men Harry Kane and Son Heung-min both out due to injury.
‘I think he’s showing him who’s boss to be honest,’ Crouch told BT Sport during the pre-match coverage.
‘I think to react like that there has to be a comeuppance and I think that Mourinho’s comments after the game saying they improved when he went off and we’re at the game that was the case.
‘Lamela and Ndombele were class when they came on.’

Fellow BT Sport pundit Rio Ferdinand added: ‘Some managers would say ‘I like to see that emotion and that pride and disappointment in being brought off.’
‘Obviously Jose Mourinho on the other hand is saying ‘I’m not gonna have that being done when you’re brought off. You’re gonna act accordingly and you’re gonna see why while watching from the bench.’
When quizzed before the game, Mourinho refused to clarify why Alli had been dropped from the starting eleven.

‘I am not sure you ask every manager in the Premier League when some player stays out you ask the same question,’ he told BT Sport.
‘It looks to me like it is normal for other managers to leave out any player that wants and with me I make a decision of this type, it is also a big story around them so I would prefer not to answer.’
