Deontay Wilder has promised to use the same designers behind his elaborate ring-walk outfit again despite claiming their latest suit was ‘too heavy’ and cost him in the biggest fight of his career against Tyson Fury in Las Vegas.
Wilder surrendered his WBC world heavyweight title when his corner threw in the towel after seven rounds of heavy punishment from Fury, who had dropped his rival twice during Saturday night’s rematch.
The American has since blamed the first loss of his professional career on the weight of the mask, crown and body armour he wore to the ring, claiming that it left him with ‘no legs’.

However, according to The Sun, Wilder will still work with Donato Cowley and Cosmo Lombino – who were the inspirations behind his £31,000 ring-entrance outfit – after having an emotional conversation with the former on Tuesday night.
The 34-year-old is as well known for his outlandish costumes as he is for his knockout artistry, and has worked with Cosmo + Donato since his first fight with Fury, after his reality TV fiancee Telli Swift discovered their shop in West Hollywood.
And Cosmo has confirmed that their relationship with the heavyweight boxer has not been tarnished despite his recent claims – with the Street-couture boutique even already planning a new design for a potential third fight between Wilder and Fury.
‘Deontay Wilder called me at home last night,’ Donato revealed to The Sun. ‘We had an extensive honest conversation that put confusion and rumours to rest, reiterating that he considers us family.

Wilder’s outfit on Saturday night was inspired by 60s movie The Devil Rides Out and paying tribute to Black History Month.

He told Yahoo Sport: ‘He didn’t hurt me at all, but the simple fact is … that my uniform was way too heavy for me.
‘I didn’t have no legs from the beginning of the fight. In the third round, my legs were just shot all the way through.
‘It could easily be told that I didn’t have legs or anything. A lot of people were telling me, ‘It looked like something was wrong with you.’
‘Something was, but when you’re in the ring, you have to bluff a lot of things.
‘I tried my best to do so. I knew I didn’t have the legs because of my uniform.

‘I was only able to put it on [for the first time] the night before but I didn’t think it was going to be that heavy.
‘It weighed 40, 40-some pounds with the helmet and all the batteries.
‘I wanted my tribute to be great for Black History Month. I wanted it to be good and I guess I put that before anything.’
Wilder has the right to exercise a rematch clause and has confirmed he will be taking up that option which could potentially scupper an all-British showdown between Fury and Anthony Joshua this summer.
