Though Real defeated Barcelona 2-0 in Sunday’s Clasico to return to the top of the La Liga table, there have been tensions behind the scenes this season.

They lost 2-1 to Manchester City last week in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie amid rumblings of discontent at Zidane’s methods from senior players.

It marks a stark contrast to Zidane’s first spell at the Bernabeu in which he won three consecutive Champions League crowns, the league title and two FIFA Club World Cups.
