‘He kept his promise to 12-year-old Molly Hall and gave her a day she will never forget…’

Foster, 36, met Molly in December when he surprised her on her doorstep with a signed shirt and wished her a Merry Christmas.

Molly told him she dreamed of watching the Liverpool showdown and the former Manchester United man replied: ‘We’ll sort some tickets out, definitely.’

He added: ‘We’ll see if we can get you to be mascot. That will be nice because you get there early and we can make a whole day of it. We can do that.’

On Saturday the pair joked about her leaving wheel marks on the pitch ahead of the Hornets’ 3-0 win.

She told BBC Breakfast: ‘It was really cool and one of the best days ever and I’ll never forget it because everyone was so nice and you got to see all behind the scenes and it was just really cool.’

Molly was not the only one to appreciate the move, with fans piling in to express their gratitude at the classy gesture.

One posted ‘this is the side of football I love,’ while another added: ”Absolutely top man.’

Foster’s good will has become well known, as in December he hit the headlines for helping an 80-year-old dementia-sufferer out of a ditch.

The man, who was a Watford season ticket holder, had problems with his car and had decided to walk.

Foster helped him into their vehicle and he and his wife drove him back to their house.

They cleaned him up and the footballer asked what he was doing for Christmas and said that if he was by himself, he was welcome to spend it with them and their family.

He also offered to buy the man a new Watford season ticket.
