Graeme Souness has criticised Paul Pogba once again, saying the Manchester United midfielder would be ‘an absolute doddle to play against.’
French World Cup winner Pogba has often been on the receiving end of Souness’ wrath, particularly in the past few seasons when his fitness and attitude has been questioned.
Now, asked by The Sunday Times on how he would treat Pogba if he were his team-mate, former Liverpool skipper Souness did not need a second invitation to have a dig at the £90m star about his mentality.

Souness has been critical of the Frenchman’s attitude and injury record in the past
‘Pogba has absolutely everything to be a top player – great athleticism, super technique – but his attitude to the game is the polar opposite of mine,’ Souness said.
‘He goes out with one thought in his mind: ‘I’m going to show everyone how clever I am today and be the star of the show.
‘My attitude, the way I was taught, was: “Go out and work harder than the guy you’re in against and see where that takes you.”
‘He’d be an absolute doddle to play against.’
This season, Pogba has been out of action for the majority, having played just twice since September amid ankle problems and he is yet to score.
That has not stopped the 27-year-old being criticised by Souness though, with the Sky Sports pundit saying at the beginning of the month: ‘I see him dancing at a wedding, I see him shooting hoops… the cynic in me is thinking he doesn’t want to be at United.
‘How can you not want to play for Man United, if that’s the case?’

Last year, Souness questioned Pogba’s attitude again, saying ‘Paul Pogba plays for himself, it’s all about how cool he looks, showing us how clever he is.
‘I reckon Pogba’s only in the team to maintain his transfer value until United can sell him, because he doesn’t merit his place for any other reason.’
Also, in October 2018, the 66-year-old suggested Pogba might never stop making big mistakes after he made an error against Chelsea during the final months of Jose Mourinho’s helm at Old Trafford.
‘I think they’ve run out of patience with him, you cannot as a manager keep saying “this is what you need to do.”
‘As Joe Fagan would say – the great Joe Fagan would say – “we’ll tell you once, we’ll tell you twice, and if you don’t get it you won’t be here very long”, and it was as brutal as that.

‘This boy has been blessed with the most wonderful athleticism, he’s six foot four, I’m sure he can leap like a stag and run like the wind. You’d think this was tailor-made for him.
‘He’s got fabulous technique, he’s got fabulous athleticism, but for me he just doesn’t do the basics right. But there is a player there.
‘Even at 25 you never stop learning in this game. If this boy believes that he is the real deal at 25 then he won’t get any better.’
