Leicester City announce they WILL NOT be placing any staff on furlough at this stage… and will pay all casual matchday and non-matchday staff until the end of the season

Leicester City have confirmed they will not be placing any of their staff on furlough at this stage despite the coronavirus pandemic putting a halt on the football season. 

The club also confirmed all casual and non-matchday staff will be paid to the end of the season.

The statement reads: ‘Leicester City’s First Team squad have emphasised their collective commitment to the Club’s long-term future this week, during the start of an open and productive consultation between players and senior management.’

It continues: ‘The Club intends to retain all permanent staff and does not intend to utilise the Government’s Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme. 

‘All casual matchday and non-matchday staff will be paid to the end of the 2019/20 season, as the games were previously scheduled.’

The statement went on to claim that the club have made a ‘united commitment’ to offer ‘security for our people’ and will keep ‘the community central to their vision’.

Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers added: ‘This is a Club with a strong set of values that behaves like a family. 

‘In times of crisis, your first instinct is to protect your family and that’s the response I’ve seen. I am proud to lead this group of players as we define and fulfil our roles for the future.’
