It is bad enough when you can’t go out to play darts, but things got even worse for Gary Anderson who had to pull out of the PDC Home Tour because his Wi-Fi connection is not strong enough.

The 49-year-old darts star posted of his connection speed on his Twitter account, which meant he was unable to take part in the event which will take place over 32 nights.

In another tweet he commented: ‘No excuses can only get 6/7 here, truespeed won’t come out a couple of miles down the road as not enough houses.’

There was a lot of reaction online to tweet, with many darts fans quick to make a joke at Anderson’s expense.

Micha2k2 commented: ‘How long did you need to upload this picture,’ while leehayward1970 added: ‘You throw quicker than that.

Stuarthollis01 also made light of the situation as he said: ‘With speed that slow just play Justin Pipe.’

He did get some comments of support with MUFC_Jake_Darts commenting: No need to explain Gary, just make sure you practice ready for when darts resumes properly.’

The news that Anderson was to pull out of the event broke on Thursday, with the two-time world champion telling The Sun: ‘I was up for it but when we did tests of my WiFi, it’s just not reliable enough.

‘It doesn’t surprise me. I struggle to pay bills online in my house, it’s really frustrating.

‘I did want to take part. It would have been something different to try and win.’

The PDC Home Tour was set up to keep fans entertained in the absence of the regular Premier League Darts season which is on hold due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Each night, four players will meet in a round-robin style format comprised of best of nine leg matches, with the winners of each group progressing into the next round.

‘My internet WiFi is not up to scratch and the set-up I use for practice wouldn’t be sufficient. Good luck to everyone.
