Everton have reportedly joined the race to sign Aston Villa midfielder Jack Grealish but the midfielder isn’t a priority signing for the club this summer.

The Toffees’ director of football, Marcel Brands, is said to be a fan of Grealish after watching him in action on several occasions this season.

But Everton have already highlighted a number of other positions that they’re desperate to fill before making any move for Grealish and Manchester United remain favourites to sign the Villa captain.

According to Sky Sports, a right-sided midfielder is a priority for the Toffees and the club have already targeted Gremio’s aptly-named Everton Soares.

The Brazilian impressed Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti during last summer’s Copa America and the Italian is confident the club can secure a deal.

Their pursuit of Soares could also be aided by his friendship with international team-mate, Richarlison, who has become the Toffees’ talisman since joining from Watford in 2018.

Centre-back is another position Ancelotti is keen to strengthen, with Lille’s 22-year-old defender Gabriel Magalhaes emerging as his first choice option.

Magalhaes is wanted by a number of European clubs, including Leicester and Arsenal but Everton remain confident of luring him to Goodison Park.

The Brazilian moved to Lille for just £1.5million from Avai in 2017 and has blossomed into one of the continent’s top defensive prospects.

He played against Chelsea twice in the Champions League group stage earlier this season and caught the eye with his ability on the ball and cultured left foot.
