Inter Milan have reportedly moved in front of Liverpool and Juventus in the race to sign Brescia’s highly-rated young midfielder Sandro Tonali after proposing a £35million deal.

Juventus had been the favourites to land Tonali after deciding to target the 19-year-old in favour of a big-money move to re-sign Paul Pogba from Manchester United this summer.

Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool have also been long-time admirers of the Italy international while European giants Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United are also said to be sniffing round the midfielder.

However, Sport Mediaset report, as per Football Italia, that Inter Milan have now moved ahead of the chasing pack after laying down an early offer worth £35m for Tonali.

The report claims Inter director Beppe Marotta and President Steven Zhang have already worked out the details and given the green light to spend a large chunk of their transfer budget on the midfielder with hopes of securing a deal before their rivals can make a counter bid.

Tonali, who turns 20 next month, operates best in a defensive-midfield role and has been likened to Italy legend Andrea Pirlo.

He has already earned three international caps and earned praise for making a seamless transition from Serie B football to Serie A following Brescia’s promotion last season.

Tonali’s performances this term have caught the eye of clubs closer to home with Inter also expected to face competition from Napoli, AC Milan and Roma for his services.

Tonali had scored one goal and laid on a further five assists from 24 games in all competitions before the season was suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic.
