May the Fourth Be With You: Disney Plus honours Star Wars Day with new content

May the Fourth Be With You! Disney+ honours Star Wars Day with brand new exclusive content from a galaxy far far away

Star Wars Day (May the Fourth be with You) started as a fan-generated grassroots holiday, but has now become a fully fledged global celebration of the sci-fi fantasy saga.

This year, the force is strong with Disney Plus, as it honours Star Wars Day with brand new original content from a galaxy far, far away. Spoiler alert – it’s not Star Wars Episode IX: Rise of Skywalker.

While this might not be the content you were looking for, the Star Wars fan community will instead be treated to the premiere of Disney Gallery: The Mandalorian, plus the epic conclusion of the critically acclaimed series, Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

Disney Gallery: The Mandalorian sees executive producer Jon Favreau go behind the scenes of The Mandalorian in an eight-episode documentary series. After which, there will be a new episode aired every Friday on Disney+.

Each chapter explores a different facet of the first live-action Star Wars television show, with never before seen footage, interviews and roundtable conversations from cast and crew, all hosted by Jon Favreau.

It also explores the legacy of George Lucas’ Star Wars, from the legendary cast and groundbreaking technology to the iconic score and creative influences.

Favreau says: ‘Disney Gallery: The Mandalorian is an opportunity for fans of the show to take a look inside and get to see a different perspective, and perhaps a greater understanding, of how The Mandalorian came together and some of the incredibly talented contributors throughout Season 1.

‘We had a great experience making the show and we’re looking forward to sharing it with you.’

Back in January, Favreau shared a picture of George Lucas holding a Baby Yoda model.

Excited fans can also look forward to another addition to Disney Plus‘ comprehensive collection of Star Wars movies and shows – the highly anticipated conclusion of Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

The finale will bring one of the most critically acclaimed chapters in the Star Wars saga to an epic close on Star Wars Day (May 4 2020).

It was created by George Lucas and Lucasfilm Animation with Dave Filoni (The Mandalorian) serving as executive producer/supervising director.

The critically acclaimed series, which explores the events leading up to Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith has spanned seven seasons, featuring all-new epic adventures and memorable characters to expand the Star Wars story.
