Little Mix announce they’ve cancelled their UK summer tour amid COVID-19 pandemic

Little Mix have announced that they’ve cancelled their planned UK summer tour, amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Jesy Nelson, Leigh Anne Pinnock, Perrie Edwards and Jade Thirlwall were scheduled to embark on their tour in June, with stops including London‘s Hyde Park on July 4.

But amid the crisis, they stated on Twitter: ‘We are sad to announce that following the latest government advice, we have to cancel out upcoming UK Summer Tour.

‘The health and safety of all our fans and crew is always our number one priority. Please look out for an email from your ticketing agent shortly. Please only contact them if you have not received an email by May 5th.’ 

Reiterating government advice, the singers stressed safety first, as they concluded: ‘Please stay safe and stay home, lots of love, the girls x.’

The cross-country roadshow, which was set to run between June and August, was set to include stops in Hull, Aberdeen and Cardiff.

Late last year, the singers were forced to cancel their upcoming tour dates in Australia and New Zealand, that were set to take place in December.

A source told MailOnline the girls were ‘gutted’ by the decision but were faced with the tough choice after taking on new commitments including a BBC TV show.

The six December arena tour dates were originally meant to take place in July, but were pushed back to the end of the year just one month before the tour was due to start, and have now been cancelled altogether.

Little Mix’s rescheduled tour was due to start on December 7 in Perth before ending in Auckland on December 17, the conclusion to the live dates to promote the group’s fifth album, LM5.

The girls recently signed on to host new BBC show, Little Mix The Search, which is scheduled to kick off this year, and completing their tour would leave them with no time to record their sixth album.

Explained the source: ‘Auditions begin early next year with commitments throughout Spring, leaving no time for the band to record their upcoming sixth album.

‘They had to choose between touring Australia or recording a new album, and after a lot of thought they decided that it would be better to record new music, and tour Australia later.

‘They are gutted to cancel the Australian dates and let down the fans there, but hope they understand that this was their only window to record new music for 2020.’

Amid the lockdown, Jade admitted she’s ‘having withdrawal symptoms’ from being away from her bandmates, who she’s been communicating with via video calls.

The songstress and her fellow group members have been forced to postpone the release of their latest album amid the ongoing pandemic.

Confessing her rest has been affected as a result, the media personality told Glamour magazine: ‘I am really struggling to sleep.

‘I’m a bit of an over thinker anyways, so when I get to bed that’s when I have all these thoughts going on in my head. I struggle to sleep anyway but it’s in overdrive at the minute.’

Jade admitted she finds it strange not seeing her gal pals, explaining: ‘I’m definitely having withdrawal symptoms. Just because we have a laugh every day at work and I genuinely see the girls more than I’d see my family or friends.

‘I’m really missing the girls especially because we were just about to go headfirst into our campaign. I’m missing not doing work with them.’
