Cameron Diaz reveals being on the opposite sleep schedule as husband Benji Madden has helped their parenting

Cameron Diaz and her husband Benji Madden are on opposite sleep schedules these days, and it’s doing wonders for their parenting skills.

Diaz, 47, took part in an Instagram Live session with makeup artist Gucci Westman, where she revealed that she’s a morning person and he’s a night person.

The couple married in 2015 and Diaz welcomed their first child Raddix Chloe Wildflower Madden in late December 2019.

‘Benji wants to go to bed late, and I like to go to bed early… that works so well for us as parents,’ Diaz revealed. 

‘I can go to bed a few hours early and he does those later feeds with her,’ the actress added.

‘I can wake up early and be with her in the morning and [Benji] can sleep,’ Diaz said, adding that she is ‘polar opposites’ with her husband, but that’s a good thing.

‘We all need somebody… somebody who doesn’t do what we do,’ Diaz said, adding it’s a ‘tribal thing’ which she learned from her friend Drew Barrymore.

During lockdown, she’s been as busy as ever, stating, ‘I literally get up and don’t stop moving until I lay my head down on the pillow,’ adding that she ‘loves that feeling.’

When she does slow down, though, she turns her attention to cooking, which she said is her ‘favorite thing in the world to do.’

‘That’s my happy place. Cooking is everything… I’m eating way too much pasta. I’m eating it every night. It’s just comforting and it’s easy and you can use so many things,’ the Charlie’s Angels star said.

She also discussed the current coronavirus pandemic, stating, ‘None of us know what’s going to happen, when this is going to end [or] what the new start is.’

Diaz added that different scenarios have ran through her mind like moving away, adding, ‘All those things you think about.’

She offered some advice for those troubled by the pandemic, stating, ‘The best thing to do is to stay in the moment, just take care.’

‘Until there’s a vaccination we don’t know anything,” Diaz added. 

Both her and her husband have been sticking close to home during the pandemic to keep their daughter safe.
