  • Type 1 diabetes left her with damaged teeth due to uncontrolled sugar levels
  • She bought £3.98 veneers from Amazon which left her in hysterics at the size

A mother who wanted the perfect smile without the price tag was left ‘in hysterics’ when the veneers she ordered were so big she couldn’t even close her mouth.

Sara Hamilton, 30, from Bolton, Greater Manchester, was unhappy with her smile after Type 1 diabetes caused her teeth to become damaged through sugar decay.

So in a bid to get a Hollywood smile at a fraction of the cost, Sara ordered £3.98 veneers with free delivery from Amazon, which promised to fix her teeth at home ‘within minutes’.

But despite the low cost, Sara was reassured by some positive reviews, among the 19 testimonials which rated the teeth on average at one-and-a-half stars out of five.

However, when the pearly whites arrived, the housewife was left ‘crying with laughter’ as the clip-in teeth were so big she couldn’t even close her mouth.

Sara said: ‘My teeth have been damaged due to my sugars being uncontrolled, which has made me feel self-conscious, so I wanted to get some clip-in veneers for everyday use.

‘They were only cheap so it wasn’t a great loss and the reviews were good, so I thought I may as well try my luck.

‘I just wanted to be able to smile. I was so excited for them to arrive which took a couple of weeks but as soon as I took them out of the package – I burst into laughter.

And Sara revealed how she shared the picture with her family and friends to brighten up their time in lockdown.

The cosmetic teeth, which are advertised as ‘one size fits all veneers’, state how the product is a ‘removable, reusable, temporary smile device.’

It also noted: ‘If you feel the size of the braces is too large, make the teeth uncomfortable, you can properly shorten the distance between the ends of the braces, use scissors to remove the excess.’

However it warned: ‘This is an irreparable operation, please be sure to confirm then execute.’

Speaking about when she fitted the veneers, Sara revealed: ‘They were so white and huge – I was in hysterics when I put them in my mouth,’ she said.

She added: ‘I couldn’t even close my mouth never mind talk!

‘I shared the photo with my friends who were all laughing too – it was brilliant.

‘It’s safe to say, I won’t be wearing them in public – unless it is Halloween.’
