The good old days: Stephen Mulhern took to Instagram over the weekend to post a hilarious throwback snap with Holly Willoughby from their early days as fledgling TV presenters

He captioned the snap: ‘Not sure what’s more shocking… my post from yesterday, or this throwback!? @hollywilloughby what do you think!?’

Stephen was referring to an image he’d shared the day before, which featured a merged photo of Holly’s and Phillip Schofield’s faces.

Stephen – who now hosts shows such as In For A Penny and Catchphrase – presented Ministry Of Mayhem with Holly from 2004-2006. It was later renamed Holly & Stephen’s Saturday Showdown.

The show was intended to fill the Saturday morning void left by the cancellation of SMTV: Live, which was hosted by Ant & Dec and Cat Deeley.

This comes as Cat has hinted at a revival of the erstwhile series.

Two years ago, it was reported that the trio of presenters were set to bring back the much-loved children’s television show alongside to mark the 20th anniversary.

However, it was claimed to have been delayed as Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly already had too much work on with Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway, Britain’s Got Talent, and I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!

But, earlier this year, Dec suggested they could bring it back as part of the pair’s celebrations to mark 30 years working together.

He said: ‘We might do something a little bit later in the year but we’ll let you know when we’ve got more firm plans.’

Cat said when asked if she’d be up for joining them: ‘Of course I would!’

The 34-year-old star has since sparked speculation that will be making a comeback when she told the Daily Star newspaper: ‘It was so much fun. Phillip Schofield once said to us, “You must remember how much fun it is while you’re doing it.”

‘You never feel it at the time, because it’s live, and you feel a bit of the pressure of it but looking back on it, I think it’s the most fun we’ve ever had.’

And when quizzed on whether it will be back, she replied: ‘Quite possibly…’

Ant and Dec revealed they were one step closer to bringing the show back to life after they pre-booked a studio to film in.

Ant said in January 2018: ‘We can tell you it’s happening, it definitely happening, I’m on board, Dec’s on board, Cat’s on board. A lot of the old team are getting back together. I think we’ve just booked a studio, I think we’ve got some writers involved. So we’re kind of at that stage really.’

However, two months later, it was reported that the show’s comeback had been postponed.

SM:TV Live aired on ITV from 9.25am on a Saturday morning for three hours. The award-winning show aired between 1998 and 2003.
