Nadia Sawalha larks around in 80s-inspired gym gear to take part in an aerobics class from home amid the coronavirus lockdown

She recently lamented wasting years on dieting and being obsessed with calorie counting.

But Nadia Sawalha appeared to be in good spirits as she larked around in her 80s-inspired gym gear in an Instagram post on Wednesday.

The Loose Women presenter, 55, looked radiant as she donned a navy blue pleated skirt along with a baggy work-out top emblazoned with the letters ‘We Love the 80s’.

She finished the look with fluorescent leg-warmers as well as a floral bandana and wristbands, which husband Mark Adderley had fashioned from an old bikini earlier that morning.

The mother-of-two styled her hair in a messy bun as she posed playfully in front of the camera.

Nadia uploaded the post alongside a caption that read: ‘Soooo excited about doing 80s aerobics dance class this morning at 11.30 (only 20 minutes too) @danceyertitsoff join me and get for having a giggle! As my mate @danceyertitsoff says ‘glitter gets you fitter’

She wrote: ‘The sad old days when I was counting every calorie and then trying desperately to exercise them into oblivion.

‘So much of my life wasted on the same repetitive exhausting vacuous s**t . What a waste of life . Sure , everyone told me I looked great.

‘But my head was spinning with stinking thinking… Like this …. “I’ve had half a sandwich at 230 cals so run for half an hour to get rid of it” Truly bonkers!!!

‘I’m so grateful to have done the hard work that I needed to to get to a safer place and that’s why I urge anyone that’s still locked into that cycle of negative thinking to please avoid the BBCs new show The Restaurant that Burns Calories.

‘I’m sure it was made with the best of intentions but unfortunately I believe it could trigger people with disordered eating to get back on that negative treadmill of thought.’

She continued: ‘All we all need to do is eat healthy nutritious meals (with NO calorie counting) and exercise a bit because it feels good not because we’ve been conditioned to punish ourselves with it …

‘AND Be kind to those damn fine bodies of ours girls, really really kind . A tough ask if you are still in a self loathing place.

‘But I promise you if you fake it to make it first, it will feel so good you won’t ever want to go back.’
