Inside David Beckham’s 45th birthday: Star is treated to a bacon and egg butty in bed made by Cruz

He may be celebrating his 45th birthday in lockdown, but that didn’t stop David Beckham from having a good time on Saturday.

The former footballer was treated to breakfast in bed by his son Cruz, 15, while Victoria, 45, wrapped all of his presents up in personalised paper. 

The fashion designer took to Instagram to proudly show off Cruz’s butty: a bacon and egg sandwich with the words ‘love you’ squirted onto the plate with ketchup. 

Victoria captioned the post: ‘Sweet…. from @cruzbeckham.’

She then showed off her own creation, blue wrapping paper with David’s head printed on it. 

Victoria told her legions of followers: ‘So it’s David’s birthday and we’re just setting out all the presents and I have to say, this wrapping paper I’m obsessed with it. 

‘Love customising presents.’ 

Cruz later uploaded a snap of David playing a classic arcade game, with the words: ‘Dad tyna beat my high score’ (sic). 

Their middle son had also posted a sweet birthday tribute on his Instagram; photos from their skiing holiday in the alps and the words: ‘Dad I love you so much Happy Birthday. Have a great day’.

Romeo, 17, also shared his own message to his father: ‘Happy birthday dad I love you so so so so much and hope you have the best day ♥️sorry for being officially taller than you now’. 

Victoria, meanwhile, shared a photo of the pair walking Rottweilers Snoop and Puffy in Manchester, 23 years ago. 

Victoria wrote: ‘Happy birthday @DavidBeckhamx Remembering our walks with Snoop and Puffy in Manchester all those years ago. 

‘Still dog walking together 23 years later. Love you so much x’.

Posh next posted a sweet video montage devoted to her husband, with The Doobie Brothers Long Train Runnin’ hit playing as the background music. 

The collection of clips started with David walking through Disneyland Florida with Mickey Mouse ears on over his black baseball cap from last year’s trip with the family.

The video then jumped to the Manchester United legend feeding geese and concentrating as he built a Lego Jeep and Hogwarts. 

David dancing with best pal Marc Anthony at his eldest son Brooklyn’s huge 21st birthday bash, him posing with spaniels Fig and Olive and his illustrious career in football were also included in the sweet video message.

Bike rides, family holiday snaps and memories of David with their children: Brooklyn, Romeo, 17, Cruz, 15, and Harper, eight, were all featured.

Victoria added a video of Brooklyn surprising his dad for his 43rd birthday, one of Cruz and Romeo playing guitars when they were younger and the whole family watching from the front row from one of her fashion shows. 

‘Happy bday to the best daddy. Celebrating in lockdown and missing @brooklynbeckham and all our friends and family today. We all love you so much xxx’, she captioned the post. 

Brooklyn is currently isolating in America with his actress girlfriend Nicola Peltz.  

The mother-of-four has only returned to Instagram this week after announcing she has reversed her decision to furlough 30 members of staff from her eponymous fashion brand.  

Victoria, who, alongside David, is worth £335million, had planned to use the Government’s Covid-19 scheme to pay 80 per cent of the wages of some of her staff. 

The fashion brand, which employs 120 people, sent letters to 30 members of staff warning them that they were going to be furloughed under the Government’s scheme for two months.  

She told The Guardian: ‘We will not now be drawing on the government furlough scheme. At the beginning of the lockdown the shareholders agreed with senior management to furlough a small proportion of staff. At that point we didn’t know how long the lockdown might last or its likely impact on the business.  

‘The welfare of my team and our business means everything to me.’ 

It is understood the firm’s application would have cost taxpayers £150,000. 

The firm denied the U-turn was a result of the public backlash and instead insisted the board ‘now believe that with the support of our shareholders, we can navigate through this crisis without drawing from the furlough scheme’.   

In a statement, the company said: ‘Victoria Beckham Ltd has been working hard to protect its people and, while adjusting to the impact of COVID-19 and the government lockdown, our decision to furlough a small number of our staff seemed the most appropriate option in keeping with many other businesses. 

‘The situation is dynamic, and, with the support of our shareholders, we now believe we can navigate through this crisis without drawing from the government furlough scheme. 

‘Our application was made in the best interests of trying to protect our staff, and that is still our absolute focus. We are doing everything we can to ensure we can achieve that without using government assistance.’

Other celebrities including Jamie Oliver and Dragons Den star Peter Jones have also sought taxpayer assistance for their staff.
