The Body Coach Joe Wicks admitted to hospital with injured hand

Joe Wicks has revealed his injured hand has put him in hospital again after fears he had broken it again.

The Body Coach fitness guru initially underwent minor surgery for his injured hand in late March, days after launching his hugely popular daily P.E lessons and had been seen sporting a cast in the classes ever since.

The 33-year-old had been for a check-up on Thursday but woke on Friday and admitted that he ‘had the worst nights sleep of his life’ after his hand began to ‘throb and pulsate like liquid hot magma.’

Taking to Instagram, he explained that medics decided not to take the wires that were surgically inserted into his hand to help his injury heal.

Despite his injury, Joe honoured his daily P.E lesson and later admitted himself to hospital as the pain became unbearable and was told he would have to undergo surgery, but thankfully the hand wasn’t broken.

He shared: ‘Great news. Bones have healed. Wires haven’t broke but the soft tissue is inflamed and possibly infected. They are operating today and removing the wires.

‘They’ve given me some strong painkillers which have taken the edge off it’.

Later speaking to his camera, the fitness guru, who was now in a hospital gown, explained they were unable to do the minor operation but were scheduling him for Saturday instead.

The YouTuber remained positive despite the situation and admitted he was happy to spend the night in hospital in order to have him back to full health sooner.

He said: ‘They aren’t able to do the operation today, they have other patients in the queue, they’re a bit slower with certain things so I’m staying tonight. They’re going to give me some nice morphine, and some antibiotics on the drip-a-roo.

‘And in the morning, hopefully first thing, I’ll be getting the wires out. I tell you what this infection is no joke, I’ve had codeine up to my eyeballs. They gave me liquid morphine, it ain’t taking the edge off it. It’s throbbing.’

In another snap uploaded to his stories of his hospital stay, he said: ‘I’ve got a drip of liquid paracetamol. That is absolutely fantastic. Paracetamol IV saves the day for now, almost instant effect and on the pain.

‘So glad I’m staying here tonight. I woke up all night last night as it was throbbing and pulsating like liquid hot magma. Thanks for all your well wishes. Gonna get a good nights sleep I think.’

Sharing a snap of his injured hand, Joe wrote on March 26: ‘If you’re wondering why I’ve got a black wrist support on. I fell off my bike.’

‘Broke a bone in my hand,’ he added and pointing to the back of his hand just above his wrist, he said: ‘Having a wire put in here tomorrow.’

A week later, he was spotted leaving his home where he has been self-isolating amid the coronavirus pandemic, to go to hospital to have the cast changed on his arm.

Up until last month, he had been wearing his arm in a bandage following an operation on the break in which a wire was put in, and he said he would continue teaching PE, but wouldn’t do any push-ups.

He said at the time: ‘I was out on my bike last Saturday, I fractured a bone in my hand.

‘It’s okay, I just can’t do any push-ups or press-ups or burpees but I’m sure you’ll be happy about that because it means no burpees for you. I’ll be here for as long as you need me.’
