Laura Whitmore admits she is not sure how much money she has made

Laura Whitmore has revealed her financial success, confirming she has purchased two properties by the age of 34 but is not sure how much money she has made in recent years.

The Love Island presenter, who lives with her fiancé Iain Stirling, 32, purchased her first flat at the age of 26 while she also owns the home she shares with her beau.

Speaking to The Sunday Times, Laura said she pays herself the same amount of money every month from her limited company.

She said: ‘I bought a flat in Camden when I was 26, which I was extremely lucky to do. I think it’s an Irish thing about owning land, giving you a bit of security. I bought my latest property, a house in north London, a year ago.’

Although she admitted to not knowing how much money she made last year, profits at Laura’s media company Yer Wan Ltd reportedly rose to £676,500 in 2019.

She said: ‘To be honest, I don’t actually know (how much she earned last year). Money goes into my limited company and I pay myself from there.’

Laura admitted that while she is not sure what her exact income is, her parents know because an Irish newspaper prints annual lists of high-income earners in the country.

Laura added that she is careful with her cash and sometimes, rather than buying an expensive dress, she will instead rent it out if she is only planning on wearing it once.

The TV host also recalled the early days of her career when she started out as a presenter for MTV.

Laura admitted that she had no idea what she was doing when she first started working at the station where she had to interview Coldplay on her first day.

The star admitted: ‘I had no idea what I was doing. I just faked it until I made it. I’m not confident at all — I just pretend I am.’

Laura described working at MTV as her most lucrative gig to date because it lead to so much other work but the beauty also admitted she was not paid for her first three months at the station.

Sharing the interview on her Instagram page, Laura stressed the importance of coming to grips with money.

She wrote: ‘I think more than ever we all know having financial security is so important.

‘It was nice to talk about money as so many people, women especially, have been afraid to talk about it in the past. Know your worth!’

Laura’s interview comes amid reports the upcoming series of Love Island has been thrown into crisis due to the coronavirus pandemic.

After ITV bosses hinted the series may be axed this year as it would send the wrong signal to viewers, sources are now claiming the ITV2 is struggling to get insurance to be filmed in Mallorca.

It’s reported that bosses are considering asking its stars to isolate for two weeks before filming starts this summer, but without insurance production could be shut down completely.

A source told The Daily Star on Sunday: ‘Producers are looking at ways of making it work.

‘The current plan is to fly crew and contestants out to Majorca two weeks before filming starts and then isolate everyone. But even with these measures, insurance companies won’t offer cover.

‘ITV can’t do the series without insurance. If the series is airing and even just one person tests positive for the virus, the whole thing would have to be shut down immediately.’

MailOnline has contacted representatives for Love Island for comment.

The reports come just days after Head of ITV Kevin Lygo hinted this year’s Love Island may be axed, as it could send the wrong signal to viewers during a time of social distancing.

Speaking during a virtual interview by the Edinburgh TV Festival, Kevin admitted they’re at a point when they have to decide whether to go ahead with Love Island this year.

He said: ‘We’re approaching the moment of is it feasible? Will Majorca open its doors?’

The channel boss added that they wouldn’t want to send the wrong signal to viewers when the country is asked to stay and home and keep at least two metres apart.

‘What signal might it be sending out if we’re doing a show where everyone is crammed together slavering over each other, and the rest of the world is told not to go near anyone in the park?’ he added.
