Meghan Markle reads book to Archie on Save The Children

With his cheeky toothy smile and head of strawberry blonde hair, birthday boy Archie Mountbatten-Windsor looks just like his father Prince Harry in an adorable family video shared on social media today.

Meghan Markle, 38, was filmed by husband Harry, 35, as she read children’s book Duck! Rabbit! to their one-year-old son in a sitting room at their Los Angeles home.

The video was shared on the Save the Children Instagram account this morning to mark Archie’s first birthday.

It comes after the Queen led senior royals including Prince Charles and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge in wishing Archie a happy first birthday on Instagram.

Archie has rarely been seen in public and in the footage he smiles and grips the pages of the story, by Amy Krouse Rosenthal and illustrated by Tom Lichtenheld, which playfully asks whether an ambiguous image is a duck or a rabbit.

A string of A-listers have taken part in the campaign, including Eddie Redmayne, Jennifer Garner and Lily James.

A caption with the video said: ‘Duck! Rabbit!’ with Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex (and Harry, The Duke of Sussex behind the camera), read to their son Archie for his 1st birthday. Happy Birthday, Archie!’

It comes after The Queen led royal family well-wishes to Archie on his first birthday.

A post on the monarch’s official Twitter account said: ‘Happy Birthday to Archie Mountbatten-Windsor who is celebrating his first birthday today! Archie is The Queen’s eighth great-grandchild.’

Royals including The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Charles and Camilla have shared birthday wishes with Archie in Instagram posts which all featured pictures of the young royal.

Fans have taken to Twitter to call for a photo of the youngster on his birthday – as is royal tradition. The milestone is likely to be marked by just Harry, 35, and Meghan, 38, in person.
