After the Hemsworths brought Hollywood glamour to the town, a handful of local and international stars have visited Byron Bay or purchased homes in the area.

Australian TV’s golden girl Carrie Bickmore secured a $3million four-bedroom holiday bungalow in 2018, while The Block winners Elyse Knowles and Josh Barker invested in a property in 2019.

Other A-listers who have been drawn to Byron Bay’s hippie lifestyle include Tom Cruise, Russell Crowe, Matt Damon and Elle Macpherson.

Actresses Naomi Watts and Margot Robbie are also regular visitors.

Chris and Elsa’s move to Byron Bay sparked a rise in housing prices in recent years, according to Real Estate economist Nerida Conisbee.

The median property price in Byron Bay reportedly reached $1.75million in 2019, which is higher than many house prices in Sydney.
