Honest: Tamzin Outhwaite, 49, has revealed how working with her boyfriend Tom Child, 29, during lockdown is ‘a real challenge’ and has ‘put a strain’ on their relationship

Tamzin’s new YouTube series is all shot at home amid the coronavirus pandemic, with Tom – who she began dating two-and-a-half years ago – acting as director and cameraman.

In the clip shown on ITV, he even makes an appearance as Tamzin asks him to pass her fruit before they share a kiss on camera.

Asked how lockdown has impacted their relationship, Tamzin said: ‘It’s a challenge. It’s a real challenge.

‘Everything that used to take not very much time at all because you had a crew of 40 is now taking a long time because Marnie and Flo, my kids are involved as well. So I’m like, “Can you either both be involved or be quiet just for 10 minutes?”

‘It does put a strain on all of you, but we’re loving it too because we need the distraction from all of this madness. It’s really lovely to have something to do. And the writing from Judy Graham is hilarious,’ she added.

Loose Women’s Denise Welch, who is also starring in the show, appeared from home on a video and explained she had come to blows with her husband over filming.

Former EastEnders star Tamzin admitted: ‘Tom and I have barely had a row in two and a half years, and now it’s like: “Will you just be patient?”‘

‘It’s all these little things that you think, this could turn you into a bit of a monster, working with your partner.’

Asked if their arguments spill over from squabbles about work matters into their relationship, Tamzin said: ‘It’s literally just about, “Babe, that light’s far too bright”, “Oh no, I don’t think it is”, “I think it is…”

‘And then “We’ve only got 10 more minutes to shoot this” and I’m like, “Well I’m on a zoom call, but I’ve got to quiz the family tonight.”

‘It turns into… I don’t know, it’s just ridiculous really. But it’s a really strange set up – filming at home when it’s not reality. It really does make you think how do people have a camera in their house following everything?’

During her appearance on Loose Women, Tamzin also discussed what she believed was a battle with coronavirus.

She explained: ‘I woke up on Monday 16th and my throat was like someone was sticking a knife in it and my head was like someone was banging a hammer on it.

‘It was for four or five days, But I didn’t have a cough and a fever. I’ve never felt so wiped out, so I assumed [I’d had covid-19].’

Earlier this month, Tamzin defended the 20-year-age difference between herself and her boyfriend – by revealing they both wanted long-term commitment, and insisting that age should not be a barrier to genuine happiness.

She told the Guardian’s G2: ‘A woman being very sure of what she wants or what she is in her life doesn’t make her a cougar, because there are two people involved in this relationship.

Tamzin’s relationship with Tom began some three years after a difficult divorce from actor Tom Ellis, with whom she shares children Florence, 11, and Marnie Mae, seven, in 2014.
