Hasley and Yungblud reunite for the Los Angeles protests inspired by the death of George Floyd

Halsey and her ex-boyfriend Yungblud reunited Saturday to take part in protests throughout Los Angeles.

The 25-year-old pop star and the English singer showed solidarity with other protestors in West Hollywood, who were looking for police accountability after a Minneapolis police officer killed George Floyd by stepping on his neck for nearly 9 minutes.

The two musicians were joined by other famous faces at the raucous protests, including Emily Ratajkowski and the ‘hot felon‘ Jeremy Meeks.

Doing their part: Halsey, 25, and her ex-boyfriend Yungblud, 22, came together on Saturday to march in West Hollywood to protest the death of George Floyd

Halsey (real name: Ashley Frangipane) dressed anonymously at the protest in a black T-shirt with a black sweatshirt, white cut-off jeans shorts and off-white New Balance tennis shoes.

The Without Me singer revealed earlier this month that she fractured her ankle, requiring a brace, but she seemed to be getting by without the extra equipment.

Yungblud (real name: Dominic Harrison) wore a black jacket over his white T-shirt, along with two-tone black and white jeans and and studded black boots.

The former lovers joined the mass of shouting protestors in the middle of a West Hollywood street.

Although it’s a common tactic for some protestors to wear masks to avoid targeting by law enforcement, most of the crowd covered up due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

Halsey and Yungblud were also joined by two female friends while marching.

Floyd died on May 25, after a convenience store clerk called police and claimed he paid with a counterfeit $20 bill and that he was ‘drunk’ and ‘not in control of himself.’

Two police officers arrived on the scene, where Floyd was in his car outside the store.

Officer Thomas Lane drew his gun and pointed it at Floyd, while telling him to show his hands, though no reason has been given so far as to why Lane’s firearm was drawn.

After being handcuffed, Floyd was seen being compliant on bystander videos, though the police claim he began resisting arrest as the tried to put him in the police car.

The police report claims that Floyd then ‘stiffened up, fell to the ground, and told the officers he was claustrophobic.’

More police officers, including Derek Chauvin, arrived on the scene for backup, and Chauvin pulled Floyd out of the car, causing him to hit the ground, according to the report.

While he was facedown and still handcuffed, other officers restrained him as Chauvin put his knee on Floyd’s neck.

Floyd repeated ‘I can’t breathe’ over and over while also begging for his mother and saying, ‘please, please, please.’

After six minutes, he stopped breathing and became unresponsive, but Chauvin stayed on his neck for another two minutes, all while bystanders filming the altercation shouted for him to step off.

Halsey, like many other protestors, had her cell phone handy in order to document any potential wrongdoing.
