‘Without fail every time’: Jesy Nelson is left in floods of tears after rewatching The Notebook during emotional afternoon at home

A decades spanning tale of undying love played havoc with Jesy Nelson’s emotions as she settled down for an afternoon in front of the television on Thursday.

With lockdown restrictions still in place, the Little Mix star put her feet up and rewatched The Notebook, director Nicholas Cassevetes’ tear-provoking adaptation of the celebrated romantic novel from Nicholas Sparks.

The non-linear story follows Noah and Allie, two people from vastly different social and economic backgrounds, over six decades after they meet and fall in love in the 1940s.

Narrated in the present day by nursing home patient Duke to a female friend, it soon becomes apparent that the old man is in fact Noah, his female friend is Allie and he is recounting their life together because she is stricken with dementia and unable to remember her youth.

Taking to Instagram on Thursday afternoon, Jesy revealed she was moved to tears after revisiting the film on Netflix, despite having seen the 2004 drama many times before.

Sharing a short video of herself in floods of tears as the credits rolled on Noah and Allie’s captivating final scenes, she wrote: ‘Without fail every bloody time.’
