MAFS: Carly Bowyer reveals the Instagram post that sparked a backlash

Married At First Sight’s Carly Bowyer reveals the Instagram post that sparked a fan backlash and made her feel ‘shamed’

Former Married At First Sight star Carly Bowyer has hit back after trolls accused her of going ‘too far’ by sharing a raunchy Instagram post.

The 34-year-old revealed on the Finding a Unicorn podcast that she felt shamed when fans left comments saying they didn’t like her photo.

She had hoped the response would be positive and empowering, but she ended up feeling bad about herself after several people unfollowed her.

Crossing a line? Married At First Sight’s Carly Bowyer hit back at trolls shaming her for a ‘risqué’ pantless Instagram post

The photo in question showed Carly wearing a long-sleeved black leotard.

‘During this week, I put a pic on my Instagram and it was a little bit more risqué than my usual,’ she explained.

‘It was like a bodysuit and there was literally the side of my thigh and the outline of the side of my bum [visible in the photo].

‘I had a few people tell me that I’d gone “too far” and they wrote comments saying that I had overstepped the line and they were unfollowing me.’

On her podcast Nova's Finding A Unicorn , the 34-year-old explained she didn't care if people unfollowed her if they didn't like her content, but it was hurtful to purposefully tell her that on the post

Indeed, a quick glance at Carly’s Instagram profile shows several users saying they were unfollowing her in the comments section.

She confirmed ‘at least five’ people had either commented on the post or messaged her directly to express their disapproval.

‘I don’t care if you unfollow me. But what I have a problem with is people who are writing that publicly so I can see it on my Instagram and they made me feel bad,’ she said.

She added: ‘They kind of like, shamed me for posting that photo. And it really, really annoyed me. These people who make these comments take away from you the empowerment feeling.

‘It’s not a huge, huge deal but these Internet trolls, they really freaking annoying me because I just think, scroll on if you don’t like it! I don’t understand why people have to make a point of making a negative comment to somebody.’

Carly went on say, however, that her latest trolls were ‘tame’ compared to the ones she’d experience while on Married At First Sight in 2018.

'It's not a huge, huge deal but these internet trolls right, they really freaking annoying me because I just think, just scroll on if you don't like it! I don't understand why people have to make a point of making a negative comment to somebody,' Carly said
