‘It puts a target on your back’: Big Brother host Sonia Kruger reveals how evictions will work on the rebooted show… and it’s something that’s NEVER been done before

The return of Big Brother is one of the most hotly anticipated premieres of the year.

And on Saturday, Big Brother Australia host Sonia Kruger dished all the dirt on how evictions will work on the rebooted series, which has been entirely pre-recorded.

The 54-year-old told the Daily Telegraph that challenges have become ‘crucial’ for housemates’ survival.

‘Challenges have been super-sized for 2020 and are crucial in how the game plays out,’ she said.

‘The winner of the nominations challenge chooses three people to face eviction. The Housemates vote and one of the nominees is ultimately sent home,’ she explained.

However, Sonia revealed the extraordinary twist which means that winning challenges could be dangerous.

‘Winning challenges may put you in the box seat but simultaneously it also puts a target on your back,’ she said.

Previous seasons of the program asked for contestants to nominate housemates, who were voted put by the public.

The new season will see only one public vote, to decide the winner, who will take home a cool $250,000 in prize money.

That's different! Unlike previous season where the public voted housemates off, the new season will see the public voting just once- for the winner who will pocked $250,000

The revelation comes after Sunrise weatherman Sam Mac was forced to endure one of the punishing challenges the housemates will be subjected too.

During a segment on Channel Seven’s breakfast show, the 38-year-old was hooked up to a set of electronic pads which sent shockwaves through his body.

‘You lose all control of your bodily… Luckily I went to the bathroom beforehand!’ he said while laughing nervously.

‘This is something that I have never done before,’ the funnyman told viewers, before showing off the two electrical wires attached to his wrists.

Sam explained that Big Brother had been giving him different challenges ‘every half an hour’ during his on-set visit.

Big Brother’s voice then boomed through the speakers, instructing Sam to ‘thread a needle whilst attached to electronic pads’.

During the challenge, host Sonia Kruger was in charge of what appeared to be a control console that sent pulses of electricity through Sam’s body.

At one stage, Sonia gave the controls a ‘test’ which resulted in Sam twitching his shoulders uncomfortably as he winced in pain.

Big Brother premieres Monday at 7:30pm on Channel Seven
