In an attempt to deter the spread of COVID-19 in California, Governor Gavin Newsom put the ‘Safer At Home’ mandate in place, which discouraged social gatherings.

But Denzel Washington decided to take a break from lockdown on Saturday by swinging by a friend’s home in Los Feliz.

The 65-year-old Academy Award-winning actor erred on the side of caution by donning a pale blue face mask during his socially-distanced hangout.

Washington kept it casual by wearing a loose charcoal grey tee and a pair of black joggers.

He accessorized with a solid black New York Yankees baseball cap, a black and silver water, and a pair of navy blue sneakers.

Upon exiting his friend’s home, the Training Day star briefly removed his medical grade mask from his face and let it hang from his left ear.

Washington made headlines last month for risking his own safety to help a homeless man who was standing in a busy street in West Hollywood, according to TMZ.

Denzel pulled his Range Rover to the shoulder of the road and got out to see if he could assist the man, himself.

Once he approached the homeless man in the street, he began to speak with him in an attempt to defuse the situation.

Miraculously, Denzel managed to get the man safely on to the sidewalk, while someone else phoned police officers.

TMZ also reported that Denzel continued to ‘comfort’ the man and appeared to even speak to police officers on his behalf.

Aside from being a good samaritan, Washington is also known for being a dedicated family man to his wife of over 30-years Pauletta Washington, 69, and their four children.

In an interview with Esquire published last week, Denzel’s eldest son John David, 35, revealed that he did not tell his father when he landed the role of detective Ron Stallworth in BlacKkKlansman.

It was John’s breakout role in Hollywood and, according to the actor, his father was in total ‘disbelief.’

‘[Denzel] kept asking questions like, “For HBO? Like Home Box Office Entertainment? Who? Really? But what’s it called? ‘The Rock?’ He just kept asking questions like ‘Is this real,”‘ recalled John.

‘I guess he had to check it with his agents to make sure it was real, and he was happy for me.’

BlacKkKlansman – directed by Spike Lee – received a theatrical release in 2018 and also starred the likes of Marriage Story actor Adam Driver, Hollywood star Laura Harrier, and That 70s Show alum Topher Grace.
