Matty Johnson reveals why Angie Kent won’t confirm her split with Carlin Sterritt

Ex-Bachelor Matty Johnson breaks his silence on Bachelorette star Angie Kent’s ‘split’ with Carlin Sterritt – and reveals why they’re not confirming their break-up

Former Bachelor Matty Johnson has defended 2019 Bachelorette Angie Kent, after she told her fans to ‘stay out of’ her relationship with Carlin Sterritt.

Fans are convinced Angie and Carlin secretly split up after they unfollowed each other on Instagram last week – but instead of confirming or denying the news, the former Gogglebox star has told people to mind their own business.

Speaking on The Babble podcast on Thursday, Matty said that Angie had no obligation to share details about her private life.

‘Not everybody should get unlimited access to her life!’ Matty ‘J’ Johnson defended Angie Kent after she told fans to ‘stay out of her business’ amid rumours she’s split from boyfriend Carlin Sterritt on Thursday

‘Just because you go on reality TV, doesn’t mean everybody gets unlimited access to your life,’ he said.

‘I can’t help but feel very sorry for her right now. She is a victim of her own success because she’s gone on all these shows.’

Matty was referencing the fact Angie has appeared on multiple Channel 10 programs besides the Bachelorette and Gogglebox.

Her credits include Dancing with the Stars, I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! and Have You Been Paying Attention?

Matty, who is engaged to his winner from The Bachelor, Laura Byrne, went on to say that people feel invested in reality TV relationships because ‘they’ve watched their first kiss and their first date’.

He added: ‘They feel like they’re entitled to know like close friends and family. And up until now they’ve probably had complete open access to every aspect of her life.

‘Maybe they are just going through a rough patch and if you are having an argument, you don’t want to go out and make a statement.’

Angie and Carlin’s romance has raised a fair few eyebrows in recent weeks.

After fans noticed the couple had unfollowed each other on Instagram on Sunday, Angie told them to ‘stay out of it’ and blamed the activity on a ‘glitch in the system’.

It comes amid rumours the pair quietly parted ways several weeks ago, after their supporters noticed they were seemingly living separate lives.

Last week, Carlin described the split rumours as ‘silly’ and baseless.

He told Daily Mail Australia Angie had returned to Queensland to visit family, leaving him to move into a new place in Sydney on his own.

Angie had initially relocated from the Sunshine Coast to Sydney in February to be closer to her boyfriend, but they decided not to live together.

They met filming The Bachelorette in Sydney last year. Angie chose Carlin as her winner on the dating show over runner-up Timm Hanly.
