Georgia Love claims she has received ‘unprecedented hate’ and ‘death threats’ after speaking about mental health and the coronavirus pandemic on Twitter.

The former Bachelorette tweeted on Wednesday that she was ‘disheartened’ by the response of some keyboard warriors.

‘The fact I’ve received unprecedented hate including death threats for bringing up the topic of mental health is – despite everything – the most disturbing part of today,’ she wrote.

Posting to Twitter on Wednesday the former Bachelorette star admitted that she was 'disheartened' by the response.

‘We have such a huge way to go. I’m going to sleep very disheartened tonight. I hope everyone else is going OK,’ she added. 

Georgia’s tweet was met with plenty of support, with one fan responding: ‘What an appalling reaction. 

‘How we care for and consider the most vulnerable is the mark of a civilised society.’

Another tweeted: ‘People can be so cruel. I’m sorry you had to experience that. Nobody deserves that. We’re in a time when we should be looking out for each other.’

It is believed that Georgia’s tweet was in reference to an earlier post in which she addressed the impact of coronavirus lockdowns on people’s mental health. 

‘There’s got to be a point where the mental health impacts are weighed up against the health impacts of COVID-19,’ she wrote.

This post was met with a number of negative comments describing Georgia’s views as ‘irresponsible’, presumably because lockdowns are being enforced to protect the community at large.

However, there were plenty of other who agreed with Georgia, saying that their own mental health was suffering during the pandemic.

Georgia’s comments come after her home state of Victoria saw a surge in COVID-19 community transmissions, leading to even stricter lockdowns.
