Thanks! Chris Ramsey’s pregnant wife Rosie has revealed she’s been ‘an emotional wreck’ as she returned to social media after announcing she was expecting their second child

In a slew of videos Rosie thanked fans for their congratulations after announcing her pregnancy the previous evening.

She said: ‘It’s absolutely killed us this is why I haven’t been on Stories much. One, because I’ve been a hormonal mess.

‘Two, I haven’t been able to drink wine and I got a few questions and I was just like I can’t be dealing with this, and three, I hate lying and it kills us so I haven’t been on Stories much because you know when you have got a secret it’s been weeks.’

Rosie added she first learned she was pregnant when she was just four or five weeks along, but waited until the 12-week scan to announce the news publicly.

Telling fans that their son Robin is ‘buzzing’ about the prospect of having a little brother or sister, Rosie also admitted that she struggled with anxiety leading up to her 12-week scan, after having a missed miscarriage in 2018.

She said: ‘It’s been tough in other ways, because you might not all know this, but our last 12 weeks scan with our pregnancy wasn’t great I had a missed miscarriage so I’ve been anxious and I don’t think I realised how anxious I was until I had the last scan and everything was OK.

‘And I just felt like [breathes out] I haven’t really spoken about it, because I’ve not felt like it’s real until the scan, so knowing everything is OK, it’s the biggest release in the world so just going to try and enjoy it now.

‘Just really excited and I’m an emotional wreck 24/7 at the minute, thank you so much and I really look forward to sharing the ups and downs with you. You come into my life anyway, so yeah just really excited.

‘I don’t know what I want I’m not really bothered, I’d love a brother for Robin but selfishly I’d really love a girl, so who knows whatever we get given really?’

Their happy news comes just a day after Rosie opened up about the miscarriage she had in 2018, which she described as ‘worst thing that’s ever happened in her life’.

Rosie explained how she had already thought up her unborn child’s ‘whole life’ when she discovered she had lost the baby without realising at seven or eight weeks pregnant during a routine 12-week scan.

Speaking on the latest episode of Vicky Pattison’s new podcast, The Secret To, Rosie told how she was determined to speak openly about her heartbreak so she could help other women in the same situation.

She said: ‘I had a miscarriage. I found out at the 12-week scan I’d actually lost the baby, it’s called a blighted ovum which is a missed miscarriage.

‘The baby passed away at about seven or eight weeks but I still had the pregnancy sack inside so my body still thought I was pregnant but there was no baby there.

‘Honestly, I don’t want to sound dramatic but one of the worst things that’s ever happened in my life. You hear about women when you get to a certain age.’

A blighted ovum is a condition in which a fertilised egg implants in the uterine wall but the embryo fails to develop, usually due to chromosomal abnormalities.

Speaking about how she’d made plans for her unborn second child, she explained: ‘When I was in my twenties, my friends and family weren’t really trying for babies.

‘But when you’re in your thirties when you get that little bit older, you hear about miscarriages all the time. And before I’d had mine I used to hear about them and I’d think, oh that’s really horrible.

‘But then you’d crack on and you wouldn’t think about it again. But honestly, when it happens to you it’s really awful.

‘As soon as you find out you’re pregnant you think up this whole baby’s life, it’s happening to you.

‘And even a miscarriage at four weeks can just be devastating, because it’s a long time. Even a week is a long time for your thoughts to run away with you and think up this baby’s life.’

Rosie revealed her fans and followers noticed her absence when she was mourning, as she said: ‘So it’s just hard and I was really active on social media at the time and I wasn’t on for a week and everyone was like, “Are you ok?”

‘You know when you haven’t been on and you get the messages like, “Are you alright?”

‘And me and Chris chatted about it and I was like, “I think I’m just going to tell people because I’m like that anyway”. I’m very heart on my sleeve.

‘I don’t really have many secrets as such, I’m very like this has happened, but I just thought I’m going to tell people and it’s nothing to be ashamed of, it’s happened to one in four women.

‘And the response we got was massive and loads of people were telling me about their experiences and it really helped. Selfishly for me it was a bit like therapy.

‘Hearing about all these other people who had gone through it and then hearing people who were like, I’ve got another child after mine. So it was quite positive and really helped us personally’.

Rosie previously admitted the ‘cruellest thing’ about the loss was that she still had a baby bump, after her body failed to realise she had suffered a Blighted Ovum.

After the tragedy, Rosie also shared an image of her hand in hospital and added a caption reading: ‘I was admitted into hospital a few days later to start the procedure. It was awful. Cramping, vomiting, fainting, fever, really just not nice…

‘After 5 rounds of tablets over a course of 20 or so hours the doctors told me it hadn’t worked as effectively as they’d hoped. I was then taken to surgery to have everything removed. It is now finally all over.’

‘I feel emotionally and physically exhausted. I have so much sympathy for other couples who have/are going through this as I never knew it entailed so much heartache.’

During the podcast, Vicky asked about Rosie’s relationship with Chris, to which she joked about wanting to ‘rip his face off’ after 13 weeks of lockdown.

He told Metro: ‘It is no secret that she is a little bit angry that I have lost so much while doing work.

‘It’s not like I have had to go to a gym. I’ve got a really good metabolism. I can eat basically what I want and not be huge.

‘She’s very used to being annoyed at how I look. So yeah – just more of that, which just gives me endless joy.’

What causes a ‘blighted ovum’?

Miscarriage happens for many reasons and a ‘blighted ovum’ is one description given to a pregnancy loss where the baby stopped growing very early on and either never developed to a point where it could be seen on scan, or over time it was absorbed, leaving just the pregnancy sac.

There are no particular implications for this type of miscarriage as compared to other ones where bleeding is more common or an embryo is clearly identified.

Miscarriage happens most often because there was a mismatch of the genetic material at the time of conception – due to nothing more than bad luck.

Unfortunately human reproduction is actually quite inefficient and up to half of conceptions will never make it.

The important thing you need to remember is that it wasn’t your fault. You don’t miscarry because you were overactive, didn’t rest enough or were stressed.

It wasn’t the bottle of wine before you knew you were pregnant. It’s just down to bad luck. Most women who have a miscarriage go on to have a healthy pregnancy next time.

If miscarriage happens early on, then you often don’t need to have an operation (D&C) to clear things away. Nature will sort it out either when you are bleeding or at the next period. It is safe to start trying again once you feel emotionally ready.
