Britney Spears’ former photog shares letter where she says she was ‘set up’ for her conservatorship

Britney Spears‘ former photographer Andrew Gallery has shared an intimate 2009 letter the star wrote about her conservatorship and marriage to Kevin Federline on his TikTok

Gallery took to the app to explain how he was ‘compelled’ to speak up by the #FreeBritney movement and fans continued worries about the Toxic singer’s well-being.

In the lengthy letter, which is written in the third person, Britney, 38, emotionally claims she ‘was lied to and set up’ so father Jamie Spears could take control as her conservator.

Personal details: Britney Spears’ former photographer has shared an intimate letter written by the star in 2009, where she describes her conservatorship and divorce

Britney was placed in a conservatorship in 2008, following a series of very public emotional breakdowns.

Under the conservatorship Jamie is in control of her ‘state, financial assets, and select personal assets’ along with a lawyer.

Fans have been vocal about their disapproval, using the tag #FreeBritney as a rallying call for those advocating for Spears’ independence.

Gallery said that he became ‘close friends’ with Spears while working together during her 2009 comeback but wasn’t able to come forward until now because he was still ‘under contract.’

‘We were on tour together, spent every day together for, you know, a while. And in that time, she gave me a letter that she wanted me to read to you guys,’ he told his TikTok followers.

Gallery said that the original had been ‘destroyed’ by Britney’s conservators, but said he was able to make a copy.

In the letter the writer says Spears is a ‘completely different person’ compared to her more troubled self.

‘What happened to Britney was a year ago and people need to get with the times,’ she said referring to her 2007 to 2008 breakdown.

They went on to describe how Spears was supposedly manipulated into her divorce from Kevin Federline and into giving up custody of their two sons Jayden and Sean Preston.

‘As for Kevin saying Britney divorced him, she was forced to by her lawyers because she went to visit him in N.Y. and he wouldn’t see her and the children and her lawyers said if she doesn’t divorce him he’s going to do it himself.’

‘No one knows the truth. Her behavior when her children got taken away b/c of her locking herself in the bathroom is understandable considering her friend at the door kept telling her the cops are leaving don’t worry stay in the bathroom,’ she went on, referring to a 2009 incident where she was hospitalized after losing custody of the boys.

‘She was lied to and set up,’ the letter goes on. ‘Her children were taken away and she did spin out of control which any mother would in those circumstances.’

As of July 2020, she has been under the conservator ship for 12 years.

The letter ends on an earnest note, with the writer calling Britney ‘a very giving person and would love to get the respect she deserves.’

Gallery’s TikTok posts sharing the letter have earned over a million views since Saturday.

The #FreeBritney movement gained traction last March, after she entered a psychiatric facility, which many believed to be against her will.

After fans protested outside of West Hollywood City Hall the next month, Britney took to Instagram to assure them ‘all is well.’

The singer insisted she was happy and well as she posted a Bible quote on Saturday.

‘I get how some people might not like my posts or even understand them, but this is Me being happy ….. this is Me being authentic and as real as it gets !!!!! I want to inspire people to do the same and just be themselves without pleasing others ….. that’s the key to happiness,’ Britney wrote on Instagram, along with a string of pink floral emojis.

The passage Britney posted read: ‘Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong.’
