Colin Jost fears he’ll just be seen as Scarlett Johansson’s fiance

Colin Jost worries about only being seen as Scarlett Johansson’s fiance… but doesn’t get jealous about her onscreen romances

Colin Jost doesn’t want to be seen as just Scarlett Johansson‘s other half.

The SNL writer, 38, admitted he ‘worries’ about being pigeonholed while talking to Howard Stern to promote his new book A Very Punchable Face.

Asked if he thinks about becoming ‘cliche’ arm candy, the comic told Stern: ‘Yes. That was definitely a worry. I worried about my identity with it and also with comedy… So, I was always worried about anything that felt non-comedy.’

Trophy husband: Colin Jost said he sometimes worries about being thought of as just Scarlett Johansson’s fiance while on Howard Stern promoting his new book A Very Punchable Face on Tuesday. The pair are seen in January above

‘You have to keep your own identity and do your own thing,’ he went on.

Howard also asked how Colin copes with jealousy when Scarlett shares an on-screen kiss or romance.

But Jost said it hasn’t been a problem in their three years together.

‘I don’t think it’s really happened that I’ve experienced it yet since we’ve been dating,’ he said.

He had a good strategy for how to prevent any love scenes in the future, joking, ‘I’m gonna try and push her into a lot more animated stuff. Just all voice work.’

Jost went on, admitting that while a love scene or the like probably would have bothered him when younger, he has grown out of that sort of jealousy.

‘I think probably five, ten years ago each of these things that you’ve described would have been devastating.’

‘If people want to be together and love each other, they’re going to be together. And you have to kind of have faith in that on some level and if not then you’re not going to be.’

‘She claims that she remembers thinking I was “cute,” but I know what I looked like and that’s not the word I would have used. (“Shaggy” would have been generous. “Slovenly,” more accurate).’

‘I remember her being beautiful, smart, sweet, and intimidatingly sophisticated,’ he said, saying she had ‘a grace and a smile that I’ve still never seen in any other human.’

Colin and Scarlett were first spotted together in 2017. Their engagement made news in May 2019.
