Sylvia Jeffreys shares an adorable photo with her son Oscar ahead of her return to Today Extra

She is set to return to work as co-host on Channel Nine’s Today Extra on Monday.

And on Sunday, Sylvia Jeffreys spent time with her five-month-old son Oscar ahead of her return to television.

The new mother, 34, shared an adorable photo of herself embracing her son as they relaxed at home.

She wrote: ‘Six months of slow mornings with my little mate have come to an end. I know everyone says it but I honestly don’t know where that time has gone.’

‘I’m so happy though to be starting my day with my other, less spewy but arguably more mischievous mate as I head back to Today Extra tomorrow morning. And even better, I get to share hosting duties with the delightful Belinda Russell.’

‘Now, let’s see if this live tv bizzo is just like riding a bike. Dare you to tune in and find out. See you at 9am,’ she ended.

Sylvia and her husband Peter welcomed Oscar in February and announced the news on Instagram at the time.

Sylvia shared a sweet image of their son in a blue onesie and said that he has ‘deep blue eyes’ and is ‘perfectly healthy.’

‘He’s absolute magic,’ she added in her caption at the time.

In May, she told Today Extra it had been challenging parenting amid the coronavirus pandemic.

‘It does come with its challenges. We had a couple of challenging weeks where we couldn’t get him to medical appointments when we wanted to and that was all a bit anxiety inducing for us, for me in particular,’ she explained.

But she said she was enjoying having more time at home with her young son, who she shares with her husband of three years, fellow TV journalist Peter Stefanovic.

‘I sort of feel a bit guilty in that I’m almost enjoying it. Just in the sense that there’s no pressure on me to get out and see people and get him in the car, which he doesn’t enjoy very much,’ she added.

‘It feels a little like the whole world is on maternity leave at the moment.’
