In Genoa, Italy, a new bridge was opened on Tuesday to replace the Morandi motorway bridge, which collapsed about two years ago. The former bridge collapsed in severe dew in 2018. The collapse resulted in the deaths of 43 people.

The first cars crossed the new steel-structured bridge on Tuesday after eleven Finnish time. The new 1,067-meter-long San Giorgio Bridge was inaugurated on Monday. The bridge was designed by star architect Renzo Piano.

Many relatives of the bridge crash victims missed Monday’s festivities. Giorgio Robbano, who lost several of his relatives in Morandi, told AFP that the families of the victims are still alive with the events of 2018.
