Anniina Kivimäki and Aleksi Ojala were born at a brilliant pace in the Espoo GP competitions. Kivimäki won the women’s 3,000 meters record and 12.51.87 times in Finland’s all-time statistics.

Ojala took the men’s 5,000 meters with a record of 19.38.37, making him fifth in the all-time domestic list.

– The pace went exactly as I thought. I started in peace and then I was tightened, Kivimäki stated.

The previous outdoor track record of a walker representing Lapua Virkia had walked in Espoo in June at 13.29.53, but during the hall season he already walked at 13.00.22.

– Now we have 10 kilometers ahead in the Kaleva Games. We’ll see how it goes, now that I’ve walked more of these for short trips, Kivimäki said.

Secondly, after a serious accident, Tiia Kuikka of Lappeenranta Sports Men’s, who made a strong return to the racetracks, walked with her record 13.07.65. His companion Elisa Neuvonen was third with a record of 13.09.97.

– The time was good compared to the bad week below. There was dizziness and lightheadedness and more. I was pretty skeptical about the race, but it went well, Kuikka said.

In its record time, Kuikka is Fifth in Finland’s all-time statistics and Neuvonen in sixth.

Dudincen 50 kilometers in Ojala plans

Ojala, who won the men’s competition, raised his 5,000-meter record for the second time this year. Born in Urjala in mid-July, 19.45.17 changed to 19.38.37 in Espoo. Ojala sovereignly led the competition from start to finish.

– Again the first round was maybe too hard, but after that I walked pretty much as Vellu planned, Ojala referred to his coach Veli-Matti Ranta.

Ojala hopes to enter the 50-kilometer race of his main trip during the autumn. The International Federation of Athletics WA recently decided that in a separate competition, it will be possible to break next summer’s Tokyo Olympics as early as the fall.

– We have plans for the 50 km race in Dudince in October, but now we are waiting for its date to be confirmed. There is two information about it, Ojala says.

Next, Ojala aims for the Finnish championship in the 20,000-meter track walk of the Kaleva Games.

Joni Hava from Tapio in Espoo, who was second at 20.22.33, also improved his own record in Espoo. Hava’s companion Jaakko Määttänen was third with 21.26.47.
