The downstairs problems culminated in Kepa Arrizabalaga’s nightmarish season

© Press release

Chelsea camp can be very satisfied Frank Lampardin for the first coaching season at Stamford Bridge. The London club lost its best player during the 2019-20 season, changed manager and suffered a transfer ban, leaving the team far out of the top four in several season advances.

Stamped yellow and raw for his inexperience, however, Lampard managed to keep Chelsea in the Champions League, leading his team to the FA Cup final as well. Several academy breeders got to shine for the first time in Chelsea’s No. 1 crew, but even more experienced players remained in Lampard’s popularity from start to finish of the season.

Valioliiga.com evaluates London performances player by player. The team’s biggest winners were found in midfield and offensive, with the biggest disappointments deep down the crew downstairs.

Goalkeepers

Kepa Arrizabalaga – 33 matches – 1st goalie

Rating: 4

Kepa Arrizabalaga was arguably Chelsea’s biggest disappointment, as his good game performances this season can be counted on the fingers of one hand.

Many thought Lampard treated the Spanish guard badly during this season, but in light of the statistics, Kepa was miserable without embellishing the facts. Suffering from a lack of self-confidence, Kepa showed that he is far from the top watch that Chelsea thought he had acquired for 80 million euros in the summer of 2018, and his future does not look very bright.

After moving to Stamford Bridge, Kepa have conceded a total of 86 goals in the Premier League. In just two seasons, he has thus conceded as much as 8.14 per cent of all Chelsea goals conceded in the Premier League (1056). Kepa’s rejection rate in this Premier League season was only 54.5 percent, which is very far from good enough.

Although the accusing finger must be pointed in the direction of the entire Chelsea line of defense in addition to Kepa, his loose and reluctant evidence will not reward him with a better rating than four. When a string of dominoes starts to crash, it’s not about who crashed first, but who is strong enough to keep the others upright.

Willy Caballero – 5 matches – second guard

Rating: 6.5

Willy Caballero did a good job of patching Kepa with Chelsea’s goal, but he can’t be called a rainmaker either. Caballero scored seven goals in five league games, keeping zeros only in the final match of the season against Wolves.

However, Caballero proved to be a more confident and dominant figure than the 25-year-old Spanish watchman. Unlike Kepa, Caballero did attempt a finish, but from an awkward position, sending the ball into the away fans. Despite his age, the 38-year-old Argentine hero is still a reliable second guard for any Premier League club.

defenders

Antonio Rüdiger – 20 matches – topper

Rating: 5

Antonio Rüdiger has not been the same player since his serious knee injury, from which he recovered in early 2019-20 before his second long-term injury in mid-September.

This season, the German stopper, despite his injuries, played 20 series games, based on which his game performances were simply not good enough. He looked insecure in tackles, clumsy with the ball, and fragile in the air.

So far, Lampard has relied on making Rüdiger downstairs in Chelsea. Next season, however, the situation may be different.

Kurt Zouma – 28 matches – topper

Rating: 6

Kurt Zouma was arguably Chelsea’s best Central Defender this season. However, the achievement is not strange given the collective level of defense.

Lampard looked over the French topper on several occasions in the middle of the season, but especially after the match break, his strong performances garnered well-deserved appreciation from both the coaching team and the fans.

Zouma has the potential to become Chelsea’s top topper next season, but he is also required to be more regular in light of good performance. However, there was more room for good than bad performance this season, which is already a remarkable achievement in Chelsea’s 54 goals scored in the series.

Andreas Christensen – 21 matches – topper

Rating: 6

Some still expect Chelsea to follow Andreas Christensen John Terry. However, the Danish popper has not yet managed to meet these expectations. His game performances were very divided this season as well.

Christensen could play a perfect match against Manchester City one weekend, and be just a few days later one of his team’s weakest players against West Ham. The more he expected of him, the worse he performed.

Christensen is second only to several Premier League top strikers in light of his physical qualities, but is quick on his feet, good at timing his tackle correctly and skillfully with the ball. Toppar is only 24 years old, so there is no reason to lose hope yet.

Reece James – 24 matches – right wing set

Rating: 7

Reece James is one of those Chelsea academy breeders who really made it through this season. 20-year-old Winger proved to be a more mature player of his age with the potential to challenge Aaron Wan-Bissakan and Trent Alexander-Arnoldin similar stars in the future on the A-team’s real Pak plot.

James has a great opportunity to score, but fails to hit the ball with his fingertips. During this season, gaming quickly rose to an already very high level. In the coming season, even more responsibility and development is promised.

Fikayo Tomori – 15 matches – topper

Rating: 6

Fikayo Tomor’s season also began explosively as he robbed himself of an opening spot downstairs in Lampard. However, a few fatal mistakes and a series of weaker matches dropped him on the bench. However, the 22-year-old Central Defender has a bright future ahead of him.

Marcos Alonso – 18 matches – left wing

Rating: 6

Marcos Alonso saw another very typical, alon-like season. He was fickle and insecure as a left wing defender, performing really much better in the role of wing-back.

As usual, Alonso collected a considerable number of goals and paint passes (3 + 4) on his belt. However, his poor downturns didn’t prove he was one of the club’s top defenders, which is why Lampard is fussily following the new left-wing pack this summer.

César Azpilicueta – 36 matches – right wing set

Rating: 7

César Azpilicueta was once again a confident and responsible performer, whether he played as a right-back, topper or left-back.

As captain of the club, he gave the other players a lot of fighting spirit, determination, and deserves his credit for leading Chelsea to the TOP4. In addition to his relentless defensive action, Azpilicueta was strong in the offensive direction, forging four goals and seven assists in all names, including all races.

Emerson Palmieri – 15 matches – left wing

Rating: 5

Emerson is one of those players likely to leave the club after this summer. It also says a great deal about all his accomplishments this season.

When the Italian defender first moved to Chelsea, he gave plenty of promising evidence of his skills. During this season, however, his performance has exacerbated uncertainty. The screens have been bad overall.

Midfielders

Jorginho – 31 matches – midfield center

Rating: 6

Jorginho occasionally fell out of Lampard’s popularity when the English coach favored N’Golo Kantéa and Billy Gilmouria at the bottom of the midfield. The lack of athleticism and speed has caused problems for the Italian player ever since his Chelsea debut, which is why he is expected to move back to Serie A sooner or later.

However, his season was not bad and Lampard did not appoint him as his team’s vice captain in vain.

Ross Barkley – 21 matches – midfield center

Rating: 6

Ross Barkley is certainly one of the most enraged players in Chelsea’s history. One day he can be called Merseyside in good conscience Kakáksiuntil he groped in the next game as Bambi on weak ice.

If Barkley were to get some regularity in his top performance and improve his playing eye as well as his first touch, the English player could reach the same peak level as his coach once did.

At this age, however, 26-year-old Barkley cannot realistically be expected to make such a dramatic change, which is why his days in Chelsea’s shirt may well be numbered. This season still held a lot of good, like his four goals and one goal pass.

N’Golo Kanté – 22 matches – midfield center

Rating: 7

N’Golo Kanté’s season was unfortunately broken. The smile of the widespread smiling midfielder must have coagulated on several occasions as he was harassed by injuries at regular intervals.

Due to his injuries, Kanté did not have time to build momentum for his performances as a lone, defensive midfielder. To the venue where Lampard has tried to place him Maurizio Sarrin after a role-sharing role.

However, when Kanté was on the field, his performances were typically brilliant and consistent. It is hoped that next season he will remain intact and be able to deprive the balls more effectively than ever.

Mateo Kovacic – 31 matches – midfield center

Grade: 9

Mateo Kovacic was Chelsea’s best player this season, given consistent performance at his own best level.

The ball-safe Croat brings guaranteed quality to Chelsea’s play, and under Lampard in particular, he has been allowed to implement himself freely. While he is never considered a great goal scorer or creative playmaker, his role on the Chelsea crew should not be underestimated.

Kovacic is calm with the ball when his team has to keep the ball and the opposing team presses high. He is able to transport the pace past the opponents midfield and launch attacks from almost scratch.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek – 7 matches – midfield center

Rating: –

In the case of Ruben Loftus-Cheek, the match break caused by the coronavirus pandemic came in a good place. The midfielder, who had been rehabilitated for almost the entire season since the Achilles tendon ruptured, did not play his first Premier League match until the end of June, and was given about 200 minutes to find his fitness before the end of the season.

Next season is likely to show whether Loftus-Cheek’s future is on the Chelsea crew or whether relocation would be a more sensible option.

Billy Gilmour – 6 matches – midfield center

Rating: –

Billy Gilmour played a little too few matches to earn himself an accurate rating this season. Only the 19-year-old Scottish Promise opened two games in the Premier League and performed really well for his age and experience. Gilmour has an extremely bright future, as long as the knee injury suffered at the end of the season does not prove problematic for the future.

Wingers / tens players

Christian Pulisic – 25 matches – left winger

Rating: 8

Christian Pulisic’s debut season in the Premier League went pretty fantastic after all. Although the young American started the season quietly with Lampard playing him very moderately, Pulisic rose to the top of Chelsea’s brightest stars after a match break at the latest.

Given his calm start, nine goals and four assists in 25 league games was a very good achievement from the 21-year-old winger. Next season, you can expect even tougher numbers from Pulisic Timo Wernerin and Hakim Ziyechin next, as long as he first recovers properly from the hind leg injury he suffered in the FA Cup final properly.

Mason Mount – 37 matches – left winger, tenth place

Rating: 8

Mason Mount came under remarkable criticism in the middle of the season when he no longer produced goals as effectively as he did early in the season. However, as a winger, tens and midfielder, Mount was one of Chelsea’s top performers, playing equally little of every Premier League match this season.

Mount became the first academy breeder in Chelsea history, appearing in his first season on the club’s number one crew in more than 50 matches. In the 52 battles played, eight goals and six assists were scored. The 21-year-old English promise battles Kovacic for the title of best player of the season.

Willian – 36 matches – real winger

Rating: 8

Willian, like Mount, was one of Lampard’s top players this season, responding to the call with excellent consistency and fighting spirit. The running brass pier unquestionably played the best season of his career in the Premier League, even though it will be his last Chelsea shirt.

Willian ended the season with nine goals and seven assists, a very good balance given his earlier, more volatile seasons at Stamford Bridge. Eden Hazardin Willian, who inherited the t-shirt, deserves great credit for achieving Chelsea’s TOP4 ranking.

Callum Hudson-Odoi – 22 matches – real winger

Rating: 6

When the season kicked off, Callum Hudson-Odoi recovered from his long-tormented Achilles injury. It naturally took its toll on the quality and quantity of performances, and Lampard dared to name the 19-year-old top promise only seven times for the opening.

The appearances from the bench were basically convincing, and the account accumulated five goals in addition to one full hit. However, Hudson-Odoi wants to start next season from a clean slate and cause Lampard as much headaches as possible with the choice of lineups.

Hudson-Odoi signed a long follow-up deal with Chelsea a year ago and is not expected to leave the club this summer, although more responsibility could have come this season.

Pedro – 11 matches – left winger

Rating: 5

Pedro’s screens were muted for this season, and the decision was painful for him when he underwent shoulder surgery after the FA Cup final. The final season of the 33-year-old Spanish veteran in Chelsea was far from the best, but he will always be remembered as an iconic figure within the London club.

center forward

Olivier Giroud – 18 matches – central forward

Rating: 8

Olivier Giroud is like a man born again. The oversized French striker was close to leaving the club in January, but luckily for the blue shirts, Lampard made him stay. Since then, he has scored goals at an incredible pace and played an extremely crucial role in Chelsea’s successful TOP4 battle.

Tammy Abrahamin after being injured and suffering from a faint tone, there was a real need for Giroud’s paints. He succeeded in scoring a total of eight times, even though he only opened 12 league games. Next season, however, the battle for playing time will be even tougher again when Werner, who acquired big money, enters the picture.

Tammy Abraham – 34 matches – central forward

Rating: 7.5

Tammy Abraham exceeded many expectations this season, rising to Chelsea’s No. 1 crew as the team’s top scorer with 15 league hits.

The early season of the 22-year-old English tip was staggering, but towards the end the pace slowed. Giroud locked the opening in place and left Abraham on the bench, but his accomplishments by all season will reward him with a grade of 7.5.

Next season, he has to do his best to start right from the start to get ahead of Werner and Giroud in pecking order.

Michy Batshuayi – 16 matches – central forward

Rating: 4

Michy Batshuayi failed to assert that he was a Chelsea-level player this season as well, and Lampard cannot be accused of not giving the Belgian leader a chance to prove his worth.

Many may have already forgotten that Batshuayi gained more responsibility than Giroud during the early part of the season, gathering as many as 16 matches in the Premier League under his belt.

However, the weak performances of the Belgian tip quickly dropped him to the bench and eventually only as an additional man to Chelsea’s rehearsals. Acquired in 2016 for nearly € 40 million, Batshuayi is sure to be on his way out of the club this summer.
