The tire breaks experienced in the British GP have finally been clarified. Problems were already seen in the early days of the competition when Daniil Kvjatin the ring broke out in the middle of the Maggots and Becketts bend combination. The final climax came at the very end when both Mercedes experienced tire breaks.

According to tire manufacturer Pirelli, tire wear was harder than expected due to the conditions. Britain was disciplined by the heat and track conditions were not favorable for the tires.

– The key reason was the individual race conditions, which led to a really long stint with another set of rings. The re-entry of the safety car into the track led to early depot stops, Pirelli says in a statement.

– It led to a long 40 round stint. It’s more than three-quarters of the length of the race, on a track that is one of the most demanding in the series

However, Pirelli confirms that next week’s tire combinations will be softer compared to the previous race. However, the lowest tire pressure is increased to reduce stress.
