The homicide, which was uncovered in Helsinki last week, is a so-called chopping murder, the police confirm.

Lännen Media said earlier today, based on information from its sources, that this would be a cutting death.

Police say the homicide is suspected early last week.

On Saturday, the Helsinki District Court arrested 12 people on probable grounds on suspicion of murder. Ten of the prisoners are men and two are women. The oldest of them is 46 years old and the youngest is 22 years old.

According to police, the victim was an adult man. For investigative reasons, police have been silent about the events.

– At this stage of the investigation, it is still too early to comment on the motive or circumstances of the act. The police will continue interrogations and other investigative measures, says Commissioner for Crime Juhani Vuorisalo about the Helsinki Police in a press release.

In the arrest warrants filed with the district court, the police reported the suspected murder for the period from 28 to 29. July, ie between Tuesday and Wednesday last week.

The deadline for bringing charges in the case is October 8, which means that the prosecutor must bring charges by that time at the latest. The characteristics of murder may be fulfilled, for example, if the murder is committed deliberately or in a particularly cruel or cruel manner.
