Two deals are expected from Fellman’s time

Due to the corona situation, cycling Fellman’s rides shifted from the traditional time from the beginning of June to ride next Saturday. The corona situation can be seen in this country’s second oldest competition, e.g. so that foreign teams are now completely absent. And under normal circumstances, Fellman’s races would be one part of the Lahti – Porvoo race weekend, which has also been increasing the number of participants.

Although the number of participants will now be significantly lower than in previous years, there will be no lack of quality, pace and excitement in the competition. The starting line will see two strong teams, the home team TWD-Länken with 10 drivers and the Porvoo Akilles or Akilles Green Team with a team of the same size. Last Saturday, Oskari Vainionpää, who finished fourth in the Finnish Championships, and Jimi Aalto, who won the Junior Block Championship, and Axel Källberg, who won the Finnish Championship silver, will run in TWD-Länken. Vainionpää is the Finnish champion of the 2019 Finnish block race.

Samuli Öhman, who drove silver in the Finnish Championship block, and Leevi Kervinen, who drove the Junior Bronze, will ride in the Achilles Green Team led by professional cyclist Kari Myyryläinen.

These two teams will guarantee a thrilling block run. With Anders Bäckman, an experienced IBD Cycling player who fought for the win in Fellman’s racing breakout team last year, but only narrowly in second place, there will be enough excitement.

The race is run with the traditional concept, i.e. an hour and five laps. The length of the tour on the Kyösti Kallionkatu – Paasikivenkatu – Svinhufvudinkatu – Salpaus track – Ståhlberginkatu – Kyösti Kallionkatu is about 1.4 kilometers. Cyclists will also compete for seven intermediate victories. They have no effect on the results and no credits are given for them, but the interlude prizes make cyclists try to win.

The race starts on Saturday at 3pm, the start and finish are in the traditional location at Fellman’s kiosk.
