The removal of restrictions for Sweden is being considered.

In its press release, the Government states that it has decided today, Thursday, to reintroduce internal border control in traffic between Finland and the Netherlands and between Finland and Belgium.

Restrictions on external border traffic will be returned to traffic from Andorra to Finland, the government says.

In the Netherlands, Belgium and Andorra, the incidence of coronavirus cases has started to increase since the previous assessment.

The restrictions will take effect on Monday, August 10, and will remain in effect until September 8.

The disease situation in Sweden has developed in a positive direction and the lifting of restrictions in Sweden is being considered, the government informs.

Senior physician Taneli Puumalainen The Department of Health and Welfare from THL said at a press conference today that the situation in Sweden is clearly improving. According to Puumalainen, Sweden has received surprisingly few infections in Finland.

“If the epidemic situation allows, internal border controls between Finland and Sweden can be abolished, either partially or completely, taking into account the recommendations of the health authorities,” the government said.

“The decisions now made are valid on 8.9. but may be amended earlier if necessary. The government will reassess the need and scope of entry restrictions in about two weeks based on the epidemiological situation, ”the government says.
