In the United States, 1,399 new coronavirus-related deaths have been reported in the last day, according to a follow-up from Johns Hopkins University. Figures have been revised and updated early Thursday morning.

A total of 158,171 coronary deaths have been confirmed in the country.

57,540 new infections were confirmed in the last day. In total, more than 4.8 million coronavirus infections have been diagnosed in the United States, the highest in the world.

Despite the gloomy figures, US President Donald Trump was hopeful on Wednesday.

– This thing (coronavirus) is disappearing. It disappears as things disappear, and my view is that schools should be open, Trump said.

Florida has the second highest number of infections

Coronavirus infection rates have recently started to rise again in several states since June. The disease, which previously plagued New York in particular, has now spread to the southern and western states.

More than half a million coronavirus infections have been diagnosed in the southern state of Florida, state health officials said local time on Wednesday. A total of 502,739 infections have been confirmed.

More than 7,600 coronavirus-related deaths have been reported in the state.

Florida, with a population of 21 million, has the highest number of infections in the United States after the state of California. California has nearly double the number of residents.

In contrast, only more than 5,400 new infections were reported in the last 24 days. In recent weeks, about 10,000 new infections have been diagnosed a day.

Probably the reason for the low number of new infections is that testing was almost at a standstill over the past week due to Hurricane Isaias, which swept across the east coast of the United States. Corona testing centers closed due to an approaching storm last week. The storm passed the state over the weekend.
