Jussi Tupamäki has a significant role in JYP

Jussi Tupamäki, 42, has been elected Development Manager of JYP Jyväskylä Oy’s Talent Stable, which consists of junior contract players.

Tupamäki has a long coaching career and has had time to coach in the JYP Juniors’ competition classes for several years.

Tupamäki has worked in recent seasons e.g. Head coach of the Estonian men’s national team, where he will also continue in the coming season. Tupamäki has a master’s degree in physical education. Tupamäki’s agreement covers the periods 2020-2022.

Heimo Viinanen, a long-term co-owner of JYP Jyväskylä Oy and a member of the Board, has made a significant personal financial contribution to enabling the development manager’s job description in the club’s operations.

– Supporting JYP is a matter of my heart. I see it as very important for the club’s strategy to invest in cutting-edge player development. JYP’s and Jyväskylä’s own player path, as well as strengthening the self-sufficiency of the JYP league team’s players, is really important for the future success of the club. I would see that through the role of development manager, we are able to offer even more individual and comprehensive coaching to our young promises on their journey towards the national and international level of excellence, Viinanen commented in JYP’s press release.

– JYP and Jyväskylä-based hockey have been a big part of my life since I was a child and the development of Central Finnish hockey is a matter of my heart. The position of Talent Stable Development Manager is a great opportunity to be involved in developing local top hockey and creating opportunities for new young players of the future. At the same time feel good to return back home and I follow, from whom I have received an important foundation for my career as a coach early stages, states, in turn, Tupamäki.

Sports CEO Mikko Viitanen explains Tupamäki’s choice.

– In selecting Tupamäki for the position of development manager, his strong educational background in sports sciences and experience in various coaching positions on national and international playing fields emphasized. Tupamäki’s choice was also supported by his burning desire to develop the club’s sports activities and his own coaching skills. Tupamäki represents a modern coach who possesses comprehensive player development skills and understanding on a theoretical and practical level. The job role of the development manager is really a significant additional investment in the club’s player development. JYP’s Talent Hall group consists of the club’s junior contract players. The JYP Juniors Association and the Jyväskylä Sports Academy are also strongly involved in the sports activities of the Talent Title Group.

The goal of the Talent Stable’s operations is e.g. strengthens the joint player path of JYP Jyväskylä Oy and JYP Juniors Association, offering strong practical coaching skills to the following national and international top hockey players.
