Rents for non-subsidized housing continued to rise

Rents for non-subsidized housing have risen by 1.3 per cent year-on-year in April to June, according to Statistics Finland. The increase was 1.7 per cent in the Greater Helsinki area and 1.0 per cent in the rest of the country.

Since 2015, rents have risen by 6 percent. Rents have risen the most in Helsinki, Vantaa, Turku and Tampere. The smallest increase in rents has been in Seinäjoki, Kotka, Hämeenlinna and Lahti.

In non-subsidized rental apartments, the highest average rent level is in Helsinki, EUR 21.3 per square meter, and in the lowest Kouvola, EUR 10.9 per square meter. In the new tenancies concluded during the last six months, the average rent per square meter of the studio cost EUR 27.8 in Helsinki, EUR 19.3 in Tampere and EUR 18.8 in Turku.
