The Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport is convinced that Sebastian Vettel, who is leaving Ferrari after this season, has already signed a contract with Aston Martin next year.

According to the newspaper, the deal was due to be announced as early as last weekend in connection with the British GP in Silverstone.

However, the announcement had to be postponed when Sergio Perez of Racing Point, which will change its name to Aston Martin next year, became infected with a coronavirus. Vettel would specifically grab Perez’s place next season.

Perez is also still on the sidelines for Silverstone’s upcoming race weekend and Nico Hülkenberg will continue to take his place.

At the same time, this means that Aston Martin will have to postpone the publication of the Vettel agreement for another week.

The Italian newspaper reported that the deal would have been announced next weekend if Perez had been able to compete.
