The government does not want to admit its past mistakes and is late in the mask recommendation – “The rest of the world is already firmly believed”

According to Jussi Halla-aho, the chairman of Basic Finns, the face mask recommendation should have been given already in the spring.

Jussi Halla-aho criticizes the government for procrastination with the mask recommendation.

– Yes, the government is late for the masks. I am afraid and doubt that the mask interview has been affected by the fact that one does not want to admit the mistakes made in the past, Halla-aho commented at a press conference for basic Finns on Thursday.

According to Halla-aho, the mistake has been that the authorities or the government have not issued a face mask recommendation before.

According to Halla-aho, the basic Finns think that the face mask recommendation should have been given already in the spring.

– The use of masks, for example, does not cause financial damage, unlike containment measures. Our line has been that low-threshold, easy-to-implement and low-cost measures should be put in place to avoid tougher action.

Mika Salminen, Director of THL’s Health Safety Department commented earlier to MTV News that Finland did well without a mask recommendation.

– After all, the epidemic subsided almost completely by the summer. In other words, we did reasonably well without it.

Mask talk “absurdity”

Kirsi Varhila, Chief of Staff of the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health, said at a press conference today that in the current situation, the benefits of using face masks are still being weighed.

– The recommendation will certainly come and it will be linked to a three-step roadmap on how the disease will progress. Is it worth using face masks in the current backwater phase and if so, to what extent, Varhila asks.

– Certainly in the second and third stages, when the disease spreads, these (face mask recommendations) will be used in a very targeted way, Varhila states.

At least some researchers considers the benefits of using face masks to outweigh the disadvantages.

Halla-aho considers the discussion about the benefits of using masks “absurd.”

– The rest of the world already firmly believes that while, of course, they do not solve all the problems and do not prevent every infection, they slow down the spread and prevent at least some of the infections.

Social and health Ministry has justified the decision not to issue a mask recommendation, including the emergence of a false sense of security and lung symptoms that can be caused by the fabric dust of homemade masks.

THL in turn, estimates that the misuse of the fabric mask, when misused, may even increase the risk of coronavirus infection. According to THL, there is also no evidence that extensive use of a face mask in healthy individuals would help reduce infections.

Surgical mouth-nose protectors, on the other hand, threaten to end health care, and should therefore only be reserved for use by health care workers.

masks has also been evaluated paying large sums to households.
