Ahti-Hallberg started his fitness project last summer. At the time, he said he had lost as much as 10 pounds of weight off.

– The biggest change has been that I was able to exclude the antihypertensives I used in my forties. I would be a real fool if I let the pounds come back. It would be harder to move and I would have to go back to medication, he said in November 2019.

Ahti-Hallberg teaches dance in her day job. For motivation to lose weight, she got after seeing a video filmed by students in which she teaches choreography.

– I saw that I wasn’t spinning on the dance floor. I pressed close to 64 pounds – I was in the biggest okay, I’ve ever had. I weighed more than giving birth when I went, so it was time to worry.
