As expected, Mercedes announced the extension of Valtteri Bottas on Thursday. The contract of the Finn, who has been competing with Mercedes since 2017, follows a familiar line, ie it lasts for one season.
Bottas doesn’t mind it.
– Even if it is only one year, and maybe it has some options or something like that, I think this is absolutely the best option. If and when I win the championship, then there should be no worry about anything. Then there should be doors open in every place. Even being a short chunky, this is the best option for me, Bottas tells MTV Sports.
The Fifth race of the season will be run next weekend at the Silverstone track in England.
Bottas suffered hard on the same stage last Sunday due to a tire failure. Teammate Sebastian Vettel leads the series by 30 points from second-placed Bottas.
