Matti Vanhanen (center) says in an interview with MTV News that he does not intend to continue as Minister of Finance until the end of the election term.

In connection with the Political Journalists’ event, MTV News asked Vanhanen if he intends to sit as Minister of Finance until the end of the parliamentary term.

– This is a project. You could say it’s shorter. I won’t define it in more detail. I’m not making a new career for myself, Vanhanen answers.

Vanhanen rose to become Minister of Finance in the early summer after Katri Kulmun (center) resigned following a communications coaching scandal. The current election period will continue until spring 2023.

Minister Vanhanen says that he has drawn up a plan for his “project” as Minister of Finance.

Vanhanen does not comment on exactly how many years the plan will extend.

– I believe that my chances of succeeding in this task will be improved if I stick to my own assessments quite a bit now, in connection with the decisions that Finland must be able to make, Vanhanen says.

Those assessments wouldn’t extend there until March 2023?

– Yes, it’s shorter, you can say that if you’re looking for news about it, that’s right, Vanhanen answers.
