The fourth and pre-final Hietsu Open of the Beach Volley Championship Tour started on Friday in the sunshine.
In the men’s qualifiers, eight matches were played out of the eight remaining places in the main pair of 24 pairs. There were no big surprises in the qualifiers, and in addition to the Finnish duo Perello / Ikonen, Kyrölä / Tammet, Vaarala / Lehtineva, Vuorinen / Koivuniemi, Määttänen / Kattelus and Ruohonen / Pekkala, Estonians Jaani / Lääne and Meilus will head to the main chart on Saturday.
In Hietsu, men play exceptionally block games compared to other tour tournaments: six blocks of four pairs, of which the top 16 survive the playoffs. The men’s main chart games start at 9 a.m. Saturday.
The first round of the women’s main series was played as early as Friday night, when the qualifiers had taken place earlier in the afternoon. The winners of the first round were Ahtiainen / Lehtonen, Kauria-Kojo / Saastamoinen, Vuorinen / Prihti, Metsäkoivu / Metsäkoivu, Parkkinen / Lahti-Liukkonen, Soomets / Hollas, Järveläinen / Laitinen and Rantala / Sinisalo. The women’s next round kicks off on Saturday at 12 noon.

ISTV and Ruutu will broadcast a live broadcast of Hietsu Open on Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday, the events of the main field can be seen as a single camera production from 1 pm to 9 pm and the events of the second field are as cold camera production 13-21. On Sunday, there will be a broadcast from the main field 13-19, ie the semi-finals and the final matches.
