From That Peter Crouch Podcast to Paradise and The Rob Auton Daily Podcast: This week’s top podcasts

From the very funny That Peter Crouch Podcast to the pacy Paradise, The Rob Auton Daily Podcast and Passenger List, this week’s top podcasts

That Peter Crouch Podcast

Last month Prince William appeared on this popular podcast to talk about mental health, and ended up being drawn down all sorts of jollier rabbit holes.

Last month Prince William appeared on this popular podcast from Peter Crouch (above) to talk about mental health, and ended up being drawn down all sorts of jollier rabbit holes

It’s very funny: on a recent episode footballer Peter Crouch admitted he’d bought his wife a mac coat three years running, having forgotten every time he’d given her one before.

Paradise

In 1978 a young Mancunian couple, Peta Frampton and Chris Farmer, went to Belize for a backpacking trip. They were last seen on a boat and ended up being beaten to death, tied up and thrown into the sea.

This nine-part BBC podcast asks what happened to the childhood sweethearts and uncovers shocking lapses in the investigation into their murder. It’s pacy, chilling and very addictive.

The Rob Auton Daily Podcast

This show deservedly picked up a gold prize at the latest British Podcast Awards. The format is simple – Rob Auton, a writer and performer from Yorkshire, reads something aloud that he’s recently composed.

His poems are beautifully crafted miniature gems, about everything from the joy of supermarkets to cloud shapes and soil.

Passenger List

I have to bully myself into listening to fiction podcasts, which often lay it on so thick I feel embarrassed for all involved. But this podcast is an exception. A plane goes missing mid-flight from London to New York, along with all its passengers.

Kaitlin, a student, is determined to find out what’s happened to her twin brother. While the dialogue sometimes feels canned, the ornate plot and the good acting make up for it.
