She is set to resume filming for Marvel’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings in western Sydney.

And Awkwafina, 32, made the most of her downtime before cameras officially rolled on the eagerly-anticipated flick, as she enjoyed a casual walk in Sydney on Saturday afternoon.

The American actress wore a protective face mask to limit the spread of coronavirus as she emerged for the low-key outing after isolating for two weeks following her arrival into the country.

Awkwafina – real name Nora Lum – dressed to shield herself from the winter chill in a brown padded jacket with a faux-fur lined hood.

She teamed her off-duty look with a pair of straight-leg denims and comfortable white trainers as she sauntered along.

The talented New Yorker is soon set to reunite with Michelle Yeoh, Simu Liu, Tony Leung and Rosalind Chao to resume production for Marvel’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.

In early July, it was revealed that cast and crew returning to Australia would have to self-isolate before filming recommenced.

The upcoming blockbuster had started filming in Australia at the start of the year, but production was suspended in February due to COVID-19 fears.

But things are now back on track, with aerial photos taken on Friday showing a purpose-built ‘Chinese village’ that will serve as a backdrop for the superhero film.

The blockbuster will no doubt provide a boost to Australia’s ailing film industry, which was brought to its knees as the COVID-19 pandemic took hold earlier this year.

According to the Sydney Morning Herald, the production will generate an estimated $150million for the Australian economy, as well as 4,700 new jobs.

The movie was originally scheduled to hit theatres on February 12, 2021, the first day of Chinese New Year, but has since been pushed back to May 7, 2021.
